re: My very first iPod help thread.

Wanderingchild did you reset it?
I love my video iPod. My first iPod was a mini that I got about a year and a half ago. I prefer my video one a lot more. I love it so much and it is always with me. I'm usually good at figuring things out with it so if anyone needs anything I'm here.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Call Apple then. Since it's a mini I am not sure if they can send you another mini if you need it replaced.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

I pretty much love my video iPod - I got it for Christmas this year and I haven't had any problems with it. I named it Kurt - after Kurt Deuscht, of course.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

My video ipod has given me 2 problems. One it froze on the airplane and there was still about 2 hours left of the flight. And the next one is it played my videos a few times when I first got it but now it just doesn't. I have to figure it out one day when I have free time.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

I just got my video iPod a couple days ago after having my mini for about a year and a half and so far so good, taking extra good care of it and it's with me at all times, lol. Love it, I'm just worried that it will be outdated in a month, but I mean, what left is there for the iPod to do? Make you breakfast?
I bet iPod Camera will come out eventually, where it can take pictures.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrel that was my worry when I got mine. It feels like once you buy something it just becomes old. That is probably Apple's next project then after that will be recording videos.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Okay, just to clarify, this is a thread for ALL people with iPod/iTunes questions, and anyone who doesn't notice this thread or starts a new one just thinks they're so important that they require their OWN thread, right?

EXCUSE ME. I don't just have any old iPod, okay? Her name is Layla McSparkly, and when I scratch her screen I deserve my own thread(s).

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Can you pop into an apple store to get your ipod fixed, or do they make you go through the whole online proceedure. I've been intending to drag myself down to the apple store in SoHo, but I always got the impression that they weren't able to fix it. My ipod mini likes to do crazy things, like going into disk mode sporadically or die after playing for 20 minutes.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

I've never had an iPod repaired, but my brother's laptop had to be repaired a while ago and he waited a week to get it back from the Apple Store, and it was a rather simple procedure that, he later learned, only took a few minutes to do. Apple is normally swamped with repairs, so even if it doesn't take long to do the repairs, you'll probably have to leave it there for a while.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Ok, I have a complaint. I just launched iTunes, and it said there was a new update available. So, I go to download it... and it makes me install Quicktime... again. Is it really necessary to install Quicktime EVERY SINGLE TIME you update iTunes? That's annoying.
#44

re: My very first iPod help thread.

No, it's not necessary. It's just because Apple, despite their reputation as being God/saints/the anti-Microsoft, are as much a bunch of wankers as any other software company.

<- has deleted the Quicktime system tray icon about 32 times

re: My very first iPod help thread.

Word, timote and Plum! I always HATE upgrading iTunes because of that moronic Quicktime and it's infernal tray icon.

I don't know why it annoys me so much, but for some reason it does. Ha, I'm getting mad now just thinking about it. And I was just informed there is a new update available...grr...

re: My very first iPod help thread.

My iPod croaked today. 18 days after I bought the thing, and it died. I'm getting that exclamation folder icon, and then it shuts off. I swear - its because I posted that I loved it!

Grr... aggravating. I'm waiting for Apple's email now. re: My very first iPod help thread.

re: My very first iPod help thread.

My ipod horror story:
I was talking to my friend as my last class of the day was almost over. I took my ipod out of my bag and put it on my desk then I put my bag next to it. Which knocked it onto the floor. I tend to drop it a lot (on the carpet though...) so I didn't freak out initially then I picked it up and turned it on and the inside shattered. I nearly had a conniption right then and there. I let my creepy french teacher put his arm around me to calm me down. My dad took me down to the Apple store right away and sense it didn't dent or scratch they replaced it for me. I bought a protective rubber case to put it in and it's still in perfect condition. And I probably couldn't live without it.

Oh, and its named after a picture I saw in fan photos and I call it "SweeneyPodd." I wish I was clever enough to think of that myself... lol.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

re: My very first iPod help thread.

I love my ipod...60gig Black video...and I named it Sirius Black, because of it being a black ipod...i'm a dork i'm well aware...

I've had 3 ipods in the course of about a year 1/2

started with the b/w 20gig and that broke so i sent it into Apple who replaced it but it got lost during shipping so I called and they sent me another one right away and it was a brand new factory sealed 20gig color ipod, i was thrilled, because they dont normally give you an upgrade when they fix your ipod, let alone a brand new still in box and sealed ipod...but when the video ipod came out i gave my friend my old one (he's gonna pay me when he gets the money...i hope) and bought my Sirius...

currently he lives in a blue iskin with screen protector...

but his screen is all scratched as well as the screen protector and i don't now how that happened...anybody have any suggestions on how to get scratches and things off the screen itself as well as the plastic screen protector? I tried the stuff i use to clean my laptops screen (which does a marvelous job on that) and that seemed to do little to nothing...
