I'm really surprised that Apple, which is known for graphical art and video editing, doesn't seem to have good image editing software that comes standard. There's OmniGraffle and possibly one or two other things, but they're so confusing.

Macs aren't that scary once you get a mouse with right-click capability. 
I'm not sure about the editing stuff, though. There's probably something in the trial version of iLife, but I never installed that.
