My mom has been on me to go visit colleges too...and I'm still a sophmore.
Good morning, everyone, and good luck to iheartcheyenne on the math Regents and Katt on the writing prompt.
My RA last year was so lenient with people because she wanted everyone to like her. This led to things like half of my floor holding a beer pong tournament in the study lounge while she was on duty because they knew they wouldn't get written up. I've only seen my RA this year a couple of times, and his policy is "if I didn't see, hear, or smell it then it didn't happen," but my floor is generally pretty quiet compared to the insanity of freshman year and the RA did go talk to the guys in the room next door after my roommate and I complained about their frequent pot-smoking that made us nauseous.
I never really did the college search thing because I knew I didn't want to go to a school outside of NYC. My parents were a bit upset that I didn't at least look at places like UPenn, but they couldn't complain too much about their daughter actually wanting to stay close to home (as I repeatedly pointed out to them). My brother is a junior right now, and he also wants to stay close to home.
I only want to go to a school in NYC. They're expensive, but it's my dream to go there. I love New York, and it would be close to home. I really really want to go to NYU but I wouldn't be compltely crushed if I went to a different school in the city.
Truth is, private universities in NYC aren't ALL that much more expensive than private universities elsewhere, in most cases. NYU is one of the most expensive schools in the country, but even if you were to look at another school on the same -- or higher -- academic level, it's probably about the same.
heh. They announced a date for Broadway Bares. Every year, I hope...

I feel your pain, Fantab. Must I remind everyone about my oh-so-lovely roommonster from the fall? Thank GOD she left.
Last year, barely a weekend went by that I didn't have to listen to someone have sex in my dorm (either a floor above me, or one of my neighbours). We didn't really have an RA, persay; they were called dons. And my don had her boyfriend living with her. In an all-girls dorm.
Yeah, a big part of what makes NYU so expensive is room & board. I have friends in other schools where the tuition is about the same but their dorms cost maybe half as much as mine does.

Oooh, random but guess what?
Sh-K-Boom was talked about in Entertainment Weekly. No mention of Adam though =[
I saw that. Yay for them!

Now if they could have just listed Adam and Anthony's CDs as the one's to buy in that list of 5 CDs they suggested, that would have been amazing.
Well, they didn't actually record Look Around. But, I think they're trying to become known for their cast recordings -- or at least that's how it looks, with the expansion to Ghostlight and everything.

I have the magazine with me. They have three Grammy Nominated Albums, which is awesome =]. The five that EW says to get are Hair [which I want], Bright Lights, Big City, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels [which I also want], Altar Boyz, and Spelling Bee.
And you're right...I guess I just remembered seeing Anthony's CD on the website and thinking that they recorded it, but looking at it now I see that it's under "Friends of Sh-K-Boom".

I love my friend..she is the sweetest more selfless person I know. This is a letter she sent broadway cares (i gave her the website since she told me she wanted to help with donated to AIDS research)
Hi! My name is Ally ----, and i'm in ninth grade. I've been going to see RENT on Broadway since I was in 5th grade. I feel that since the movie came out, a lot more people have been cautious and support more donations for AIDS and HIV. I feel that if I bring a chance to donate money for this cause to my high school, it will go far. Once I get permission from the administrators in my school, i'm going to try and produce bake sales and I will also see what the prices are to make T-shirts. All the money I make will go to Broadway Cares. Please E-mail me back when you read this with information and tell me what you think! I really want to help this cause and be apart of something bigger than me.
Thanks a lot,
Ally -----(Hewlett, New york)

That's really cool. I have 2 of the albums they featured in EW (Hair and DRS) and I want the other 3.
I hope he finally records Apology and Mesmerized.
Yes!
And hurry up on Julia's CD!
Yes!
I <3 Sh-k-boom. Hair, Bright Lights, Spelling Bee, and Altar Boyz are all fantastic.
aww, yay for your friend, Mel.
Seriously. He sings them, and he's like "these are good songs! But they're not on my albums!" And it's "Adam. Honey. Why not?"

Hm...ok. I wouldn't pay $200 for it, but it's still kinda cool.
$200... ah, hell no.
Off to class with me... 'til 3:30.
