Raul's American Theatre Wing Downstage Center interview... it's under "recordings" on his website.
The Tick Tick... BOOM! related part of the interview is a little more than 3/4 of the way through.
And SD, I think that it sounds like they were holding each other.

I think it's...
"Adam -- Pascal -- who I didn't know at the time, though he's since become a friend, held me and cried for three minutes after the show."
YAY BBM!!

Horray! I'm so happy about Brokeback Mountain's win... it really is the best movie I've seen this year.

I unfortunately can't really add to the BBM discussion. I feel like it'll never live up to the expectation that I have for it now considering all the hype, so I haven't seen it. I know -- what a stupid rationale.

I'm just curious to find out what all the hype is about.

I think a lot of people are feeling that way, SD. The people who saw it early on could just go in without expectations, in a way. Now it's got all of this hype, and I think that's going to hurt the way people react to it.
But it's still the best movie I've ever seen. Movies don't get me like that.

okay I am going to be well only slightly annoying I hope, and say hi, yes I am new to BWW but only because I never happened upon it, not because I am one of the annoying "newbies" who only like broadway because of the movies coming out. I haven't read all the pages in this thread yet but it seemed like fun, and right up my alley since I love Adam Pascal, (okay I know how dorky and annoying I just became). Okay, ending this now so you don't all kill me haha

Welcome, bwaylover86 (did you pick that username because you were born in '86? If so, then yay!)

The best movie you've ever seen? Wow. That's... wow.
I'm listening to the Raul interview now. Raul is VERY eloquent and articulate. I love people who talk fast.
Just to keep this somewhat on topic (hah), I thought this photo was adorable:

Wow I'm shocked I thought you all would just be irritated by another newbie lol thanks for the welcome, and yes born in '86, and although I did discover Rent right when it came to b-way I probably did not really understand every bit lol how could I at that age I guess lol but I loved the music and overall message right away, so that would def not make me in any way a newbie to rent, or the goodness that is Adam haha

Oooh, nice picture. Heh, is that actual nail polish, or did Adam just draw on his fingernails with a Magic Marker?

Okay, the icon of Adam's sons is beyond creepy. The sex stories about Adam and Anthony are one thing- at least they've both willing placed themselves in the spotlight- but this is so far beyond invasion of privacy. It's like making your screenname his social security number or something like that.

Then you'll LOVE me
When I met him, the two of us were both talking a mile a minute; it's a wonder everyone else could keep up. Seriously though, he is an amazing speaker; it's no wonder his career choices were going to be either actor or lawyer.
Raul and Adam both have very "Come hither" expressions in the Hair pic.
*goes thither*

Hi, bwaylover86, welcome.
Regarding Brokeback Mountain:
It's.... well, if you go into it expecting it to be immediately life-altering, you might be disappointed. It's not a movie with an overt political message, which to some extent it's been made out to be... rather, it's a more simple (and at the same time, miles more complex) story about a love that neither society nor the characters themselves can embrace. It has societal implications, but it centers on the main cast of characters and how this situation affects their lives. From the hype you'd almost think that it's this movie on a grand scale that asks for immediate change of the way people think, but I found it to be subtler than that. It's the sort of movie that (hopefully) will open the eyes of the people who're willing to see it rather than alienate them by pushing a political message.
And I love that interview, SD... I really love the way that he speaks.

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely the same way. I'm in debate and my number one flaw is that I talk far faster than the judge can write. Oh well.
BG, that totally looks like Sharpie! But, um, big hands...

bwaylover, don't worry as long as you're able to carry out a "normal" conversation without a lot of squealing (an odd squeal is acceptable) you'll fit in easily.
I'm a very fast talker, especially during presentations because I'm nervous. I also tend to talk fast if I've got a couple of drinks in me.

I really didn't love BBM... it was a little graphic for my taste and I just didn't see the big deal over the whole thing... maybe I am missing something, and maybe I just didn't have the right mindset when I saw it... but either way not really my thing

SD, how did you make that so big?
Raul's brilliant. I seriously think he's a genius. Like, off-his-rocker brilliant.
