Oh! Sorry! I'm totally just reposting what I'm telling theatrebabe, I'm too lazy to type it out twice.
So, I hopped the metro at 2:30 this afternoon(Alone! Aaah!). I got into the city at 3ish, and got to the store a couple of minutes after. I immediately went up and bought the book, and got a number, 26. So, basically, I was 26th in line to get stuff signed.
Ayamechan1117: so, i bought a tea and settled down in the comfy reading area to read the book
I was just sort of relaxing-went for a walk to McDonald's for primping reasons, but other than that, just stayed there. At 4:30ish they started setting up chairs. A couple of other people were already there, so we grabbed the chairs, saying what was the harm? the worst thing they could do was kick us out
I got a second row seat and saved one for my friend, Kial. As i was sitting down, a man in the row in front of me said, "hey, i got an extra number. do you want it?"
It was number 8!
So, I gave my old number to another girl. I chatted for a while with this Anthony fan in the row behind me, who was nice enough, but sort of an idiot, and an LJer, besides. My friend got there pretty soon, then the heavy waiting began.
As we were waiting, i realized how smart i had been to get there early, 'cause that placed got PACKED. They had to make an announcement that people weren't allowed to sit on the bookshelves. They totally weren't expecting that many people. Turns out my dad knew people who worked there, but found out too late, unfortunately.
started getting silly nervous butterflies about 20 minutes before it started. I made my friend keep talking so that I could focus on something and not start freaking out.
So, he finally came out. He's TINY. He's, like, my size,I could totally wear his clothes.
He seemed nervous and a little hoarse. So, he read a part from the book about rent rehearsals and sang a little of "what you own" that was in the book. They wanted him to sing the rest.
He was like, "Nooo, you can't sing it alone!" Someone suggested getting Adam on the phone.

In English I'm supposed to "write a poem in which you describe an important historical event. Choose any event that you think should be remembered, but make sure there is a central character like the hero in a traditional epic. You can write about the people directly involved, even if you don't know them, or you can write about how the event affected you personally."
I want to write about Rent and Jonathan's death, but I'm not really sure how to write about him as "a hero". I know that he is one, but I'm not really sure how to express it in words.
Any ideas?

Right...more. Continuing from the last sentence...
He was like, "Right, I'm sure he'd be *thrilled* about that!"
He opened it up to questions and answers soon after. One person asked him about the cast getting along, which gave him a chance to talk about how Adam "needs Hair Time." So then i raised my hand, and he called on me!
I asked him about getting his memoir published in light of the James Frey scandal. He gave a good answer, but the thing I will remember forever is that he looked right at me for a good minute and a half while he answered. Since I was sitting so close, it was *intense*.
After he finished with the Q&A( I was second to last!) he sang Seasons of Love, which was really very cool, because you would never normally get to hear his part alone.
Ayamechan1117: After he finished the song, it was time for autographs! We had to go in groups of 25 and I was in the first group! My dad was able to force his way through the crowd and hand me Mom's camera so that I could take a picture with Anthony.

Ok, last part!
A very nice lady standing behind me helped me figure out how to turn the camera on, which was fortunate! In no time at all (literally, about three minutes)it was my turn. He took my book and signed it. I mentioned BWW, and he said, "Oh, you have a handle on there?"I said yeah and he asked me what it was. I told him. It may have just been me, but I think he'd heard of it. I was fooling around with pengers on a thread that started out being about him.
So, I said goodbye and went on my merry way. And that's the end of it, really.
Y'all happy, now?

Yay! Thanks Atrias! Sounds great. And thank you for asking an intelligent and NEW question! You know he's gotta be sick of the "How did you play Mark differently in the movie?" questions by now.

From your description I don't think you have to write about Jonathan as a hero. it sounds like your teacher just wanted to be sure there was a central character. I also think it would be more interesting to take a personal approach, and probably easier too.

I'm just not sure because we've studing heroes in stories lately, but I think she would've said to talk about them as a hero, so you're probably right. Thanks.

I think you'll be fine if you tell the story of his life and his influence on you. Good luck with it!
