Yeah, I didn't even touch on the fact that I really do love Anthony's book, I just told them how I felt about their comment, because I think that anyone who claims to be a writing student ought to know better.

It's ridiculous to say that it's harder to write fiction than non-fiction. :-/

I have to stop reading that stuff, it's getting vicious.

Yeah, it seems like this person was in a rush and just didn't finish their thought, but still. Writing is writing, I give credit to people who write textbooks, as boring as they are, because it takes talent to put that much information into that little amount of space. I think anyone who read Anthony's book would have to agree that it's not just straight fact, but full of emotion and beautiful text, whether you loved it or not.

I personally find it harder to write non-fiction than fiction. And even so, someone's writing talent isn't dependant on whether someone writes non-fiction or fiction.

I agree Shiksa...writing is writing, it all takes talent. You can't really differentiate.

I agree, I find it easier to write fiction than non-fiction.
To me I think it has to do with not having to worry about getting all the facts straight

Yeah, you know how some people are really good story tellers? Like you can just listen to them tell you about something that happened to them and they will draw it out and make it really interesting? Even though someone else telling the same story could make it bland, certain people can just get an audience's attention. That's how I feel about non-fiction writers. I rarely read straight-non-fiction because it can be boring and factual, and I get enough of that from my school readings. Anthony's book kept me interested, and I'm not saying that it had to be everyone's thing, but to deny that it's difficult to do is ridiculous.
Okay, I swear I'm done ranting about this now.

Aww, thanks
This is why I should never go to that community! I was just so bored while waiting for my laundry to be done, and one thing led to another: I checked out the main page and there was Anthony, being called a pervert (wtf? I don't even get where this came from...), so of course I had to look through the rest.

Tony Roberts is in Barefoot, and my mom and I were talking about Cabaret today after we saw Barefoot. I can't believe it's been so long!

I really need to see Cabaret... *live* I love that show. I miss seeing shows, it's been forever since I saw a professional show, and I'm going to be seeing Wicked (yay Julia!) and Company (yay Raul!) soon.

To her credit, that poster did a great job of admitting when she'd overstepped her bounds and clarifying what she meant.
Any debate about what type of writing is the most difficult or the most impressive to do is just so subjective. And, of course, not every type of writing will speak to every person. Writing a good memoir can be just as difficult as writing a good piece of fiction, or it can be harder or easier. It completely depends on the subject matter, and also what you consider "difficulty" to be (imagination, emotionality, writing style).
Wow, CLEARLY I hadn't refreshed in a while.... sorry for being behind, carry on!

I've never seen Cabaret, but I have b**tlegs of it.
Company is not playing in New York, right? I haven't been keeping track of things so well lately.

I'd really love to see Cabaret live. Our school did a production of it my freshman year, but I was lame and didnn't go.
