I cringe just thinking about shots. I can't stand them. I've gotten better about it though. When I was little I used to throw a complete fit if my mom mentioned that I would have to go get a shot.
My brother and I got it before the rest of our neighborhood and my dad was in London on a business trip. I felt bad for my mom - two kids under 6 with chicken pox and she was trapped with us! I remember going to McDonalds drive through and sitting in the car and watching planes take off at the airport. Once all our friends got it later we could go play with them which was much more fun!
I had chciken pox when I was a baby, so I really don't remember it. I'm glad.
Lexi, your needle fear is not pathetic at all. My father has actually fainted at the doctor's office when they had to draw blood, and the only way I could deal with getting shots when I was younger was digging my nails into my mom's arm while it was happening.
I'm glad I don't have any scars from it.
my brother had a seisure from having his blood taken once.

I hate them too Lexi. I have to get one every week for a year, hopefully that will help me get over it. I have a lot of anxiety too, which makes things worse. When I had to get teeth pulled the first time, they weren't going to let my mom in when they were putting me out, but I was crying so much that they had to let her in. My mom didn't want to go with me the second time, when I had to be awake, and I was so mad at her. I was so upset my legs were literally bouncing off the chair.
I have tons of scars.. one on my head, one on my knee..
I have panic attacks if they have to draw blood. It's really bad.
BG - I bet my mom has scars from my fingernails during blood draws. I am still horrible but I've gotten a little better. My new defense mechanism is to yell OUCH when they do it. I know logically it really doesn't hurt that much but I still hate it. My mom recently started taking a medicine that has to be by shot. She has to do it every night and she's like eh no big deal. NO BIG DEAL? I think not.
I know this girl who has a big one near her chest. I always wondered what would happen if she got felt up by someone. Is that weird? haha.

Thanks, girls. I just wish I could get over it, because I've been like this since I was four or so.
Um... at least I'll never be a heroin addict? Heh.
I just close my eyes and clench my other hand. I hate it when they talk to me. I'm obviously trying to concentrate. Once I had to put my finger on the bandage (before they were finished) freaked me out soooo much.
Mel, I know a girl with a huge scar on her chest too from heart surgery.
I often think the same thing...
my mom tells me to breathe, because apparently I stop breathing during that whole process.

Mel, yes, that's a little weird.
The lab I work in does cognitive-behavioral treatment for specific phobias. It's incredibly interesting. Of course, blood/injection/injury phobias are much harder to treat than say, a phobia of dogs, for obvious reasons. Usually I'm really surprised at how effective it seems to be.
Agreed on everything re: the Danish Chess recording, Lexi. I'm quite impressed by this Freddie (and he reminds me of Adam a great deal) but I really love Adam's performance. Oh, I watched the Murray Head video--you're right, bad bad BAD! Eeek. I think it sounds like the Danish version and the benefit concert are more similar than any other incarnations of the show.
I have a scar right above my belly button from a mole that had to be removed when I was 7 or 8. It's never really bothered me - it's not that big, and since I don't have the pain tolerance to get any sort of tattoo or body piercing, I consider it my one little bit of body art.
Some of my scars have disappeared, others have not. My cheerleading scar is gone. But I've got one on my knee from a scab I picked, I was stupid as a child. I've got one that's gone faint on my leg, from a "friend". And I've got all my chicken pox scars, mostly on my fingers, and one on my chest.
LOL, I have a friend who has this weird skin condition near her stomach, and she's almost like tye dyed. I know you can't imagine it, but she has kinda tanned skin, she's italian, and so part of her stomach is really white. It's a big difference. But it's like blotted so it's almost like tye dye. It's kinda cool.

I have a scar on my arm from where my cat scratched me when I was five. I have one on my chin from tripping over my dog and needing stiches, and I have another on my leg from a dog bite. And some on my knee from falling over hurdles during track.
I have no weird scars or anything.. uhh..hm..i'm a lefty
I scar easily, it doesn't even require an actual cut to leave a scar on me. My legs are like a history book of all the stupid things I did during my childhood like running through the woods barefoot and trying to do tricks on my bike. I should have stuck with doll playing and broadway show seeing!
leftys are cool :)
I was just a dainty little kid, I stayed with my dolls and board games. I used to LOVE disney videos, but who didn't?
