She wants to see it in two weeks, so I told her I was going to have to pass, and why. I had told her right after Rent 10 that I wasn't going to see it for a while. She's going to take my brother instead, and then we'll like, have dinner after. She wants to see a matinee, so I'll be at work anyway.
His RENT costar, Idina Menzel, grew up within 20 miles of him and the two shared an orthodontist.
I never knew knew that. I wonder how cute both of them looked w/ braces or retainers. =P
Hi Angela. I remember that, but where are you pulling that quote from? Also, Idina dated one of Adam's close friends for a while, and it was that friend who told him to go audition for Rent, because Idina had already been cast in it.
That must have been a good orthodontist, both of them have nice teeth now.

I don't know how true it is because "orthodontist" is spelled wrong. I had to correct it. It was originally spelled "orthedontist."
Yeah, there are a lot of spelling mistakes there. Definitely written by a fan who might have assumed a little too much - RENT became a huge sensation and Adam was depressed by the hype. That may be true, but I don't remember him ever saying it. Otherwise, it's pretty well done.

I had a big week so I wanted to tell you guys.
I just got back from NYC Friday night. I saw Tarzan (as part of the scheduled tour group trip) but we had free time so I was able to get a ticket for Rent from the TKTS booth. My first time seeing it on stage so I was thrilled. I stagedoor-ed both shows and everyone was so nice. I enjoyed both shows. I was rather surprised by Tarzan, I liked it more than I expected to.
Then yesterday I got my first tattoo. It's a pink cross with a treble clef on my inside left ankle. It represents my favorite quote "music saved my life and Jesus saved my soul"
Then today my dad bought my ticket to see Les Mis in February (as a Christmas present). I'm so excited. I'll be going by myself so it'll be a new experience for me. As you can expect, I'm in a very good mood right now.
That's great Jyn. How far are you from the city? I think I'm going to try to see Les Mis some time also. I really want to see Daphne live.

pretty far, I live in Kentucky. It'll be my 3rd time in NYC, but my first by myself. I'm thinking of staying at the Milford which is right by Les Mis' theatre. Anyone have anything negative to say about that hotel before I book a room?
When you live here you don't get to find out much about the hotels, though I have stayed at a couple in the past. Probably the best thing about the Milford is that it is right in the middle of the theater district. There's a Crowne Plaza right on Broadway that's equally convenient and probably nicer, but I'm not sure how the prices compare. You might want to check into it before you book.
ETA: While I'm thinking of it, never eat at your hotel if you can help it. The prices are insane. Go to some place like The Majestic diner on 7th and 50th, where you can get an egg sandwich and coffee for under $4.

Wow your trip sounded amazing Jyn! Glad you liked both of the shows.
As Chloe just mentioned, when you live near NYC you don't experience much in the hotels. Sorry I can't help! Read lots of reviews of the hotels you are interested in on different websites [ex. travelocity, hotels.com, etc]
That's a good idea, Alex. Shopping around is always good.
I always feel strangely stalkerish reporting things from Cybele's blog, but after all it's out there on the net. Anyway, she writes that she hasn't been around for a while because Adam's mother is visiting.
Heh, didn't Adam's mom mail a copy of his Mute CD to one of his fans that she met at a show or something?
That just made me "awwww" out loud.
I am such a loser.
Were you awing at my post or Amy's?
Anyway, I remember about Adam's mother mailing someone a Mute CD too, and that when she asked Adam to autograph it, he had the "Where did you get this?!" reaction. When she told him it was from his mother, he muttered "why am I not surprised?"
That stuck in my head because it reminds me of some people I know.

Awww
I remember that story. For some reason I thought that was Fantab. I was lurking, so I don't really remember.
I don't remember who it was, but I think it happened fairly recently, maybe at one of the Joe's Pub shows.
I also was going to say that Adam mother's was visiting, but I felt weird about it. I think there's a picture of Adam & his mom in the Rent bible. From like opening night or something.
Yes, I know just what you mean. I remember that picture too. I wouldn't say they look especially alike. He must take after his dad.
I remember in the DVD commentary, Adam talks about getting his dad's double chin & getting it fixed in Hollywood after Today 4 U.
I'm never sure how to take those types of remarks. I hope he doesn't go crazy with his face the way he does with his hair.
I think someone also commented that they'd seen Adam's dad at one of his shows and how they look a lot alike.
Aaaah Adam & his hair. =P
I've never really read about Adam's parents in the news or anywhere for that matter. I mean I think several sites mention his mom & step-dad. I think somewhere he mentioned playing a lot of music with his grandma when he was little
Hopefully Adam won't do anything crazy. Some people have bad results. We can't afford to lose our good looking Adam!
His parents keep a pretty low profile, except for the occasional Mute CD gift. Adam's dad is a lawyer, I believe.
I don't think Adam's famous enough to warrant his family getting much press.
