It looks like there'll be a lot of theater, inclluding musicals, going on in LA this season.
Playbill article.

"...which casts thirteen 13-year-olds dealing with the perils of teens in a middle school in Indiana."
I thought that said something very different...I think my eyes combined the "r" and the "i" in "perils". That would be a totally different show.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:22pmI saw JRB's name and got all excited, because... Adam singing JRB is a beautiful thing, but then I saw the description. heh.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:25pmCompletely hypothetically speaking, could anyone see Adam in L5Y? I know it'll never happen, but I think he would be an interesting (in a good way) choice for Jamie.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:28pmHm. I dunno; but have you ever heard him sing "Flying Home?" He just sounds so, so good on JRB's music.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:29pmIt's definitely not a choice I'd automatically see (Jamie)...but I wouldn't be against the possibility...

Yes, I have (thanks to you, I think
), and I thought it was amazing as well.
I wouldn't automatically see it either, Amber, but that's why I said it would be rather interesting. I think it would be a bit out of his comfort zone, voice-wise, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:45pmI'm not familiar with the music of that show. How would it be out of his comfort zone? Range, or style of music?

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:47pmWell, for frame of reference, you know Norbert did it, right? I think he would sound fine on it, but like others have said, he wouldn't be the first idea to pop into my mind. It's contemporary, but doesn't really fit into a "category," because JRB's stuff is so weirdly complex and eclectic.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:49pmI have heard Flying Home, and if that's representative I certainly see what you mean. Adam did a great job with it though.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:50pmIt's a strange thought, I honestly can't think of anyone but Norbert doing that roll, but I think Adam would give something different to the character that would be really cool to watch.

Yes, I know Norbert did it. And yeah, I think his voice would sound fine, but like you mentioned, it's just not the type of voice you immediately associate with the role.
Chloe, I think it would be a bit out of his comfort zone with both range (acting range, that is) and style of music. It's a very emotionally bare, stripped-down show.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 6:56pmThe Norbert part was actually for Chloe, since she said she wasn't familiar. :)

Not that there seems to be a snowball's chance in hell of the opportunity arising, but I'd still like to see Adam try Macheath in 3Penny. He's just have to ramp up his death stare and ramp down his natural sweetness a bit.
(I don't usually correct people, but a everyone seems to be making this mistake lately. When talking about a dramatic part, the word is "role" rather than "roll." Also, half the population don't seem to realize that crying loudly is "bawling" rather than "balling.")

Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:07pmI should get The Last Five Years. It sounds really interesting.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:08pmIt is, and it's a show that, while enjoyable live, you're not missing too much by just listening to the cast recording. I can send it to you later, if you'd like.
#370re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten
Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:11pmThat's true, too, though I'd definitely say to read a synopsis before you listen.

Thanks very much, but in this case I'll spend the bucks and support all those people who need supporting.
The best thing about Adam in 3Penny would be hearing him sing that fantastic music.
#372re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten
Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:13pmI listen to the last five years every so often. I don't really know what's going on, but I love the songs.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:18pmAs long as we're casting, who should play the female lead opposite Adam?
#375re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten
Posted: 5/5/06 at 7:20pmI vote Sherie. Even though she already sings it, I love her.
