I dislike anything that's even close to camping.

boys.. they just expect things sometimes, and I don't want to be put into a position I dont want to be put in. I'm going with my friend and they'll be other people there.. but I think we're the only girls going.

I completely understand. Just make sure you don't end up alone with him; having other people around is always a good way to avoid the sort of situation it sounds like you don't want to be in. I've been put in bad situations a number of times, unfortunately. I have a friend who's very... forward.

No, don't feel bad, or obligated or anything like that. If someone's being invasive, you shouldn't feel like you have to give in. If they get mad, so what?

I hate saying no to people, too, as a general rule, but eventually you've got to draw a line.

Ahh, I'm all settled in at my dorm, still in ultra-giddy mode after seeing RENT with my mom this afternoon (Will Chase was absolutely amazing, Matt Caplan was a lot less annoying than when I saw RENT in October, and Kenna Ramsey's sassy diva neck-roll at the beginning of Tango Maureen is still cracking me up).

Heh at all of this talk about showers. At home, I'm always the one who uses up all of the hot water, much to the dismay of whoever gets stuck taking a shower right after me. At my dorm, there's more than enough hot water to go around, but the water pressure is so pathetically bad I might as well be in a birdbath (same thing pretty much any time I've ever gone on vacation - after a few days, I'm practically looking forward to going home to my nice water-blasting shower). I think that when I get an apartment of my own, I'll insist on taking a shower there before I sign anything just to make sure I can get enough heat and water pressure - it's that important to me.

What are you doing for fun tonight, Emcee?

You'd like my apartment then, Billboard! The pressure is WONDERFUL!

Me? Nothing, I'm already in my pajamas! I've got some stuff I need to take care of: finalizing my class schedule, listing my textbooks online (and hoping someone will buy them!), etc. All kinds of fun! The weather is icky anyway, so I wouldn't want to go out. I think I'm going to order Chinese food, though. That's always a pick-me-up. Thank God For Adam

Mmm, I wish I could join you for some Chinese food!

I've got a whole stack of books that they wouldn't take back at the end of last term. I was so pissed. It was not a fun walk with a backpack full of heavy books, only to drag them all back again!

Why wouldn't they take them back? Did you chew the pages, Allie?

Whenever the bookstore won't buy back one of my textbooks, I just donate it to them. It's not like I would have gotten a lot of money from them if they were buying back, and I just don't want to be stuck with the books.

Nooo, I did not! My courses were all full year courses, and apparently you can only return them after the course has finished. I was like, "But I'm not going back! I could really use the cash right now." But nope, I have to wait until April. A few of the novels, they would take back, but would only give $2 each for. No thanks, I can get more selling them on my own!

So they'll only take them back in April? That's silly.

I've never tried selling my books back to the bookstore, partially because here, we have like three different bookstores, and I can never remember which book I got from where. I use our online network, but I've had limited success.

I've bought (namely Angels in America for 12 bucks Thank God For Adam) and sold a few through the online network thing, so I'm going to just put them all up there. It's so tedious, though, because they want the ISBN number and all the info - each book entered individually, of course.

Yeah, that's how ours works, too. I'm sitting here with a huge pile of books, entering all of the information right now.

It reminds me of the worst part of my summer job. We sat there for hours, entering Library of Congress numbers into the database for the genealogy centre. *snoozes*

When I was working this week, I had to do a lot of data entry. I nodded off a couple of times. Thank God For Adam

Allie, that stinks that they won't let you sell back the books until April.

I could probably get a lot more money for my books if I sold them directly to people taking those classes the following semester, but it's just not worth the time and effort it would take to find buyers, so I just bring everything to the bookstore and hope to get back a third of the original cost.

Aaagh, data entry. That was a big part of my summer job, and not one I particularly enjoyed (especially because the supervisor would yell at me every time something was entered incorrectly and accuse me of not paying enough attention). It was better than filing, though.

I got lucky last semester, sort of. A friend of mine was taking a class I took and had all of the books for, with the same professor I had, so she was going to buy all of the books from me. But, it turned out that the professor decided he was only going to use a handful of the same books. Thank God For Adam
