Penguin, I love the idea that goes WITH the line, but it's the technicality that gets me. Ignoring that is all that allows me to listen to the song.
"Isn't it nice to know a lot?
And a little bit... not"
Wonderful writer, Sondheim. Most people can't handle anything less linear than 'I love you' and 'I love you not'.
Don't kill me. What's that from?
'Into the Woods'
and niaaa.... you never answered my question about FB.
Damn, I should know thaaaaat. My roommate is obsessed with ITW.
::hangs head::
Into the Woods Em. tsk tsk
I do get that way at times, but with Sondheim it just seems so well, intentional.
Emcee, I feel like I should be commited, I was trying to figure out yesterday if I should just block the guy or something. He is still, lets just say, not my cup of tea though.

Emcee, how do you not know ITW?? Steal her CD!
I'm ashamed!
And what is FB? I'm drawing a blank.
Re. Namo: I think he makes a good point most of the times. His approach can be... interesting at times, but I tend to agree with him quite a bit.
*edit: and nia, FB = Forbidden Broadway.
And note to self: do NOT distract nia with random comedy talk when she's busy in the gutter.

It seems to be the approach I get irritated by, and I think I understand where he is coming from, but it just seems self agrandizing and unneccessary.

I'm siding with Penguin. If not for the sentiment, lines like that would render many songs unlistenable.
Haven't heard it, amasis. Sorry.
nia, I have the CD! That's what's worse! I'm a terrible theatre fan.
Exactly - it's coming to be more tha approach than the issue. I still don't fully support the idea, but if approached properly and handled carefully, I suppose there is a chance it wouldn't be so awful. I just think he's not approaching it tactfully at all.
so lost, oh well.

I think Namo has bitten his tongue for so long, it's all come pouring out in one explosion of frustration!
Speaking of ITW, I was watching my tape of Peter Pan (w/ Mary Martin). I have it taped from when it air on TV years ago. I was watching the commerical - because their so old they are hilarious. I saw a commerical for ITW with Bernadette and Joanne Gleason. How crazy is that!!

Wow, I misread all of that and thought we were still on the topic of Sondheim.
Not a fan of Namo; he's become a bully. Occasionally he's funny, but most of it is unecessary.

That is insane TGIF, I love it when things like that happen!
Wow so Namo was not always insane, well that is good to know.
Haven't heard it, amasis. Sorry.
Oh, that's too bad, nia. They do some really fun stuff. For example:
Sondheim's Blues (sung to the tune of Buddy's Blues in FOLLIES)
Hello folks, it's me, Stephen Sondheim
Don't go, folks, I won't be a pain
No, no, folks, you'll still get a fond rhyme
It's just I got a problem that I wanna explain
You see, I've been under-produced of late,
Very ignored
The (..) budgets are lean,
I get my respect, I get my award,
But as I suspect... you know what I mean?
I've got those everbody-loves-me-but-nobody-will-produce-me blues
That Isn't-he-a-genius-but-don't-give-him-any-money feeling
That isn't-he-a-work-of-art-but-not-fun-enough
He's-okay-for-elitist-but-not-popular-stuff
Those 'Don't-put-on-my-albums-when-you-want-some-dinner-music' feeling
Those 'I-won-a-lot-of-Tonys-but-my-shows-don't-show-a-profit' blues
... etc.

I like it! Thanks! But for some reason I read that and heard a rap song in my mind.
*ducks bullets*
I loooooove FB. It's best when they make fun of shows you really love, ironically, because they hit the nail on the head so perfectly.

The woman who does Bernadette Peters sounds scarily like her...
*quiver*
I agree I love when they rip a show I adore. I guess I'm a masichist.

Me too, Penguin. It's fun then because you're both amused and insulted. Their Rent stuff was great.
I think I'm off to bed now, lovelies. 'twill be an early Monday.

Ellie, have you heard the Mandy Patinkin one? ("Somewhat overindulgent") I laughed so hard on that one, and I actually like mandy patinkin! And the AIDA spoof was great.
g'night Nia!
I actually need to go as well, final in the AM.
I saw the Mandy Patankin one live - the supersomethingorother Mandy, like supercalafragalistic...(sp?) whatever, you know - it was about how hyperactive he is. SO FUNNY.
