Me too, but my powers are obviously starting to fail with age.
I think you should, Alix!
how do i say "i love the way you speak" without sounding crazy?
but there's a lot more than that to say. i'll start working on writing another one and if i come up with something that's good i'll leave it before going to see the show again (which i think i must do but i don't know when yet).
hmmmmmmm. We might all have to think on that one.
urrrgh I want to ask him about that movie.
Do you mean the sound of his voice, or what he has to say? Because something like "it's a pleasure to hear your voice on Broadway again" or "you have such insightful things to say" might be less fangirlish.
on the other hand, patience would probaly be better in this case - meaning waiting to meet him eventually. maybe he'll be at the flea market.
questions i can do for some reason - if i have a good question to ask, then i'm good at asking it. the problem is that i usually don't and then i just feel like an idiot because all i have is the same praise that they hear from everyone else over and over.
oooh. Actually - I bet he might be. That stuff's really important to him.
yea, that does sound less fangirlish. what i mean by the way he speaks is literally, the way he speaks (in addition to what he has to say of course). like on the one long interview, for a bunch of it he speaks quickly but he articulates every word so well. his voice is also calming, but not in a puts-you-to-sleep sort of way.
i can't wait for the flea market. i've never been before.
I know what you mean - that interview is on a podcast now, and I was really, really stressed out when I got it. I put it on, and his voice is just so calming. I feel really silly saying that, but it's beautiful. I think he's the most articulate person I've ever come across.
Flea Market = fun. And empty wallet.
he's very good at expressing himself and each word is so clear and simply pretty.
i plan on going to the flea market to stare at the wonderful things i wish i could buy but it will still be lots of fun being in an area with such a wonderful group of people.
It's fun. I met a lot of great people last year - tons from the board.
And yeah, he can put anything into words so so so beautifully. It's amazing to me that English isn't even his first language.
I don't see why you couldn't put it to him just the way you have here, Alix. Very complimentary and not crazy-sounding at all.
i know, i always marvel over that. i want to hear him speak spanish. i think he says one or two words on the interview but it'd be great to hear him speak more.
the other day when i was in the city, it was a crazy meeting people day - we did the stagedoor of glengarry, where i met a bunch of the cast but not all. they share a stagedoor with q so we saw them come out and talked to stephanie briefly again and got to meet barrett which was fun. he's incredibly nice. then, we were walking by scoundrels when they came out, so we saw norbert and greg, who i'd never seen b/c i had his understudy. then, sarah was eating in the cafe where we had dinner. it was an insane day!
Have you heard him sing O Tannenbaum in Spanish? It's absolutely stunning. I've heard him speak bits here and there - I think Seth Rudetsky asked him to curse in Spanish at the Chatterbox, or something. It was so quick that I don't really remember what it was. One night after the show, I heard him saying something to a few of his friends in Spanish. I never really thought it was a particularly beautiful language before he came along.
Sarah Saltzberg?!
Where did you hear him singing in Spanish? I must hear it. One of my favorite carols, too.
All this talk about Spanish is making me think of the Spanish foreign exchange student that's going to our school this year. She's staying with the family across the street from me, and we had a "Welcome to America" party for her yesterday. Poor thing...we Americans talk much too fast for her.
yea, sarah saltzberg.
no, i don't think i've heard that. i have to order those chatterbox tapes.
aw, she's so cute!
IM me, I'll send you both the song. It's interesting - they stuck a sort of Latino spin on the instrumentations, as well.
Oooh, pretty! Thanks! His voice is just so...soothing. I think I have to go out and buy every CD he's ever sung in.
yaaaay! But yeah - it's so relaxing; one of the most beautiful things these ears have ever heard.
What do you think I should start with? I have limited funds.
Tick, Tick... BOOM!
It's only a three person cast, so the CD is mostly Raul. Plus, it's one of my favorite CD's.
TICK, TICK... BOOM! is completely amazing. I love it. ^_^ And Raul is dead sexy in it.
Anyway, I'm posting from my dorm room--Man, I'm loving it here. Everyone's been really nice and friendly, and all 30 people in my dorm house are completely awesome. There's also this hot guy named Mitch--tall, muscular, blonde... MmmMmmm... On the floor above me, 306 (I'm in 202). Lovely, lovely.
Anyway, I have a house meeting until about 11. Sooooo I'll be back later!
I actually have tick...tick...BOOM! I got it before I even knew who Raul was *gasp*. My friend had it,and I liked it a lot. Plus, it was by the creator of RENT, which instantly deemed it buyable. Then I came here and was like, "HE played HIM? WOW!"
Hey you, now-college student!
thanks! i can't do it at the moment, but i'll im you soon.
definately start with ttb. not that i've heard them all yet. i decided that i must own taboo and rocky horror. i'll be babysitting soon so i'll have funding. (so much for saving)
