*sobs on Emcee's shoulder*
Emcee, we can be upset together.
Of course it's not ruined, Allie, just a little damp. And Emcee was sobbing away too for a while.
Is MK definitely in the works?
There's an interesting love story too. The older brother (Armand Assante in the movie) is the practical, hard-headed one, while the younger (Antonio Banderas) is emotional and idealistic. He falls in love with a girl in Cuba, whom he has to leave behind and writes his song about. In NY, another girl falls in love with him, while the older brother falls for the girl.
Yeah, it's happening in the summer.
Hm, hope it's good. I guess Raul won't be in it for now, which is too bad, since it sounds a lot more interesting to me than Chitty.
Allie, are you really feeling bad still?
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay CHITTY!!!!!!!!!
I saw a new picture of the boy today. *dies from adorableness*

I'm kind of still feeling bad... but I'm pretty much emotioned out at the moment, so don't mind me at all...
This Mambo Kings movie sounds interesting. I may have to hunt it down and watch.
It's not a great movie but has some very enjoyable things in it, if that makes any sense.
Here's something posted a little while ago at CB:
"adam pascal shops in the store i work in sometimes. He came in to return some christmas gifts and i was talking to him about the movie.. he seemed really, genuinely pysched about it, so it must be coming along wonderfully."
aaaaaaaw. At Tower, just like... two days before he signed the contract, he told TGIF and I it was "as good as done." He seems genuinely excited, which was definitely very nice to see. Helps me a bit, since I hate the idea a little.
Yeah, I know you have very mixed feelings. Maybe because I don't have the investment in the stage version that a lot of people do, having only seen it once so far, I feel very positively about the movie.
I want to be positive. I want to be "YAY MOVIE!" but it's so hard. I hate change, I hate when things are different from the way I was bred to like them. I'm stubborn and stupid, and I'll never get over my emotional investments. Maybe next week will change my mind some; but I have a feeling I'll love the day to no end, but I'll still be scared. One day only provides so much insight into how this thing's going to end up.

Having never seen Rent, I'm really anticipating the movie, especially since it will include a lot of the original cast. But I'm also a little... skeptical? of some of the proposed changes/additions. (Especially the year being 1985... plus I'm not sure about TMOLM at an engagement party or similar...)
I'm looking forward to Emcee's report of her set visit!
You're right that not much gets filmed in one day, especially with the kind of long schedule this show has. However, you're sure to pick up on what the energy is, the general emotional atmosphere. That might tell you more than knowing a lot of details about how something is being shot. They can be very deceptive too, since so much gets shot that doesn't end up in the final version.
I hate change too sometimes, but I guess this doesn't feel like "change" to me - or at least not negative change.

I'm also a little skeptical, I guess. I've seen the show once, but I know sometimes things don't translate well between different media. I think we just have to have faith in the people who were involved with Rent from the beginning... I think it'll turn out okay.
Anyway, I only got a couple hours of sleep last night, so I definitely need to try to go to bed. Ugh. 'Night everyone!

*slides out of thread sideways* Heh... don't mind me. Updated On: 3/3/05 at 11:50 PM
'night Allie!
And yeah, Chloe. You're right. We'll see.....
Good night, Allie! I'm going to head off too, but before I do, just want to mention to ballerina that the date I've seen around lately is 1989, rather than 1985. There was also a casting notice looking for cars from the late 80's for the movie, so it looks like that's the time frame they're going for.
Bye!
Bed time for me, too. Back to the library tomorrow morning, then shopping for the big day, then back to the library forever.
Emcee: I saw Adam Pascal tonight, and immediately thought of you. You need to start going places with me - so far I've run into 2 of your loves - Adam and Patrick - not with you. I hope you get better soon!

Munkustrap, if you'd like to tell us about it we/I would like to listen.
Emcee, I know you're not here right now, but I know you'll check this thread sometime during your library lock-in. Just saying good luck.

Oo, is Emcee doing a library lock-in today?? *gives her chocolate muffins* You'll need these, my dear.

Yes she is. We both have a lot of work to do, but she apparently has more willpower than I.
I hope those are soy chocolate, Allie. If not, I'll eat them for Emcee's safety.
