OK, I've seen Chitty twice in London and absolutely loved it, so had high expectations when I saw the the Broadway production today, knowing that they apparently introduced quite a few changes.

I was disappointed with the changes. The show seemed very slow moving and had a very weak opening for startes. The plot wasn't as 'neat' as in London and I had the feeling it was a bit all over the place and must have been very confusing for children. Didn't like how the characters were introduced immediately at the beginning (the Dad introducing the characters individually to the audience etc).

Thought Raul sounded good and looked great but is in my opinion not right for the role. He's lacking the warmth that Michael Ball brought to the character and seemed to be lost in the mess today.

Overall, I was very disappointed with the whole show (except with Marc Kudisch as The Baron and Kevin Cahoon as The Childcatcher who were amazing), especially after having loved the show so much in London. LOVE Thread" width="14" height="14" src=https://cloudimages.broadwayworld.com/board/sad.gif>
