re: The Official Dance Thread

BUMP re: The Official Dance Thread

I'm having some drama/problems over at my current dance studio ::sigh:: I have to find a new one for next year.

Just wondering but does anyone go to the Royal Academy of Dance on Long Island? or did anyone hear of it?

re: The Official Dance Thread

YAY! Finally an all dance thread. I take 13 dance classes; 4 tap classes, 2 musical theatres, 2 ballets, 1 lyrical, 2 hip-hops, and 2 jazz classes. My mom owns a dance studio, so, taking alot of classes is for me is easy. I'm 12, and have been dancing for 11 years,(my mom had me in tap shoes before I could even walk.) Yeah, so you could basically say dance is my whole life, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

re: The Official Dance Thread

Welcome! re: The Official Dance Thread

I have a few friends that go there..and the teacher that owns the studio used to teach at the current studio I am going to..and to me the studio is all about FLUFF, but I never have actually seen them dance and was wondering if any of you have went there before or seen them dance. Long story..

That's awesome that your mom owns a studio moowithme! My mom was a dancer all her life and was in the Joffery Ballet. She also did a production of Carousel at Jones Beach and missed her prom to be there. But she got her equity card! So I guess it paid off.

I miss this thread, glad to see it up on the first page again re: The Official Dance Thread

I think I might try a ballet class at this new studio. I don't know anyone there and i'm scared. I really know I shouldn't be but I am. =/

re: The Official Dance Thread

Alex-Don't be scared! I was at a studio for about 7 years and then I left the studio and went somewhere else. I was scared because I didn't know what to expect, but it was awesome because I was one of the better dancers in my class. I made a bunch of friends and this year I was asked to help teach 2 classes to the little kids! I love my studio and I'm kind of sad that I only have 1 year left there because I'm graduating. I wish I would have found the studio earlier. So basically, don't worry, it may turn out betterthan you expect.

re: The Official Dance Thread

I know, it's just..i don't know..wierd at first. After I take the ballet class tonight I know I will feel a whole lot better. I saw their recital and they seem awesome and waayy better than the studio i'm currently attending. That's why i'm pretty nervous, but i'll probably be ok.

re: The Official Dance Thread

I just got back. It was great! I knew I was all worked up over nothing. Everyone was so friendly and the teacher was very nice, but strict. I havn't had a good ballet class in a year, so it felt good to be working hard again. I'm trying a tap class tomorrow. re: The Official Dance Thread

re: The Official Dance Thread

Me too! I wasn't around when you started this thread, but I've been dancing forever - ballet, jazz, modern, and a little pointe. Modern's my favorite.

I'm starting college next year, and I'm really nervous about what the dance situation is going to be. My school (unfortunately - the one thing they don't have re: The Official Dance Thread) doesn't offer any official dance classes, but there are a bunch of serious groups and I think there might also be recreational classes through the gym. I'm worried about figuring out what group to join, or what group I want to join. First I have to get through rehearsals. And you never know what level people are at and how nice people will be. :-/ So yea, I'm scared. That's my latest in dance news I guess.

Bump.

I'm taking that new tap class in a couple of hours. I really hope it's good, it's so hard to find good tap teachers.

re: The Official Dance Thread

Hey guys. It's always nice to find other dancers. I love alll styles of dance, but lyrical and contemporary jazz are my favorites. I also teach jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, cheer, and gymnastics. I haven't taken a class in about two years, and I really need to. I don't get to practice to often while I'm teaching. My school only offers jazz classes, but I love jazz so I think I'll give it a shot next semester. Umm, what else? This past spring I made my debut as a choreographer doing a high school production of Seussical. That was really fun.
Pillowpants. 'Nuff said.

re: The Official Dance Thread

*bump* Wow! This thread kinda disappeared. Oh well, this is really random, but I wanted to post it anyway. Next week I'm attending a dance convention in Chicago and I'm very excited about it! Ok that's all I wanted to say.

re: The Official Dance Thread

BUMP!

Classes should be starting up again soon. What is everyone taking?

I'm currently studio-less, and thinking of going back to one that I wasn't too fond of, because they added a lot of new classes. I'm HOPING to take ballet/pointe, and tap.

BUMP

My first class starts tonight and I'm way excited. It's a jazz class from 7:15 to 8:30. Tomorrow I have a ballet/pointe class from 6:15-8:15. I also want to take a lyrical class at my studio. The problem is, is that the only class offered for lyrical is a class for girls 10+. I don't want to sound egotistical or anything, but I'm more advanced than most 10 year olds. The owner of the studio is trying to have a second class that's 13+, but she doesn't have enough people signed up yet. If lyrical doesn't work out, I might take hip-hop

re: The Official Dance Thread

Funny, I thought about this thread the other day...

So to update what I'm doing dancewise right now:
I'm in college, so I'm no longer taking classes at a studio which is very depressing. I thought about taking some dance classes here, but I don't have room in my schedule. I'm still dancing though;I'm a member of the dance team. I kind of miss my hardcore ballet classes though. re: The Official Dance Thread
