Hi Annie. How's life, and the weather, in Budapest today? It's cold in Washington, DC but the sky is bright blue and not a cloud can be seen!
just got back from our football game-WE'RE GOING TO FINALS, BABY! (and i'm going to giants stadium-AGAIN!!) wow. we've been undefeated this entire season.
hopefully greg's michigan team did well today, too. :)
aw, andrew's been out? well, maybe he's just taking some time off. i'm sure he also had to do stuff for the color purple.
did i miss anything?
I believe they're winning.
yay!
thanks, mamie! :)

the weather here is windy, cold and dull. Yesterday it was showing on the mountains and next week we are expecting more snow, snow, snow.
Sorry Michigan - Ohio State just scored a touchdown.
24 saconds left. 24 -21 Ohio State. Michigan is out of time outs.

Ugh! Ohio just scored. With like, no time left for Michigan to come back.
Game's over - Buckeye's won.
(Can you tell I'm from Ohio State? It was MANY years ago and I didn't go to OSU.)

And, alas, Michigan lost. Silly Wolverines!

Lol. Ma and I, watchin' the game. Or, having watched.
Sorry Annie - but going crazy over college football games is just as much a part of our autumn traditions as Halloween, pumpkins, falling leaves, Thanksgiving, turkey, and all the rest!

OH DEAR!
Oh yeah? What are they?
My dad's side of the family was German and they did LOTS of cookie baking and some candy making. Mostly cookies though.

this is a "habcsók" lol. you can say: foam-kiss
it is so sweet that I don't like it. It is basically egg-white and sugar.

this is a "saloon sugar"
you can buy it in every flavour. The big Habsburg clan invented these. At xmas every family buys at least two kinds of saloon sugar.
Is it real fragile? Does it kind of collapse when you bite into it? I think my grandmother made something like that. She called it fondant. Just little merangues really.
LOL - I've heard of Saloons and I've heard of Sugar but never Saloon Sugar!
We have those 'foam-kiss' things too Annie, only we call them Merangue.
Edit: Mamie beat me to it.

yes it is fragile a little...but it's extremly sweet.
And the saloon sugar is saloon sugar because at first the rich ate it at the saloons. that's why.
By all. See you tonight I hope!
