yeah, Norbert's voice was going near the end of Nothing is to Wonderful to be True. But here is what happened that was so funny!
First time seeing Lucie Arnaz. She's not bad. She plays the character differently than Joanna but it's cool. When she was "psst"ing to Norbert, after the first "psst" she turned around and Norbert turned to face her and she "psst"ed right into his face. He had a big smile on his face while he was wiping the spit off his face but she did not. Not sure if that was scripted or if she is good at keep a straight face.
Norbert had a lot of energy during Great Big Stuff (and throughout the show). You really couldn't tell that he was losing his voice except during "Nothing."
Rachelle Rak was on for Sara. She did a good job. She wasn't Sara, but she was good. My grandmother liked her song the best (I think it was the only one she could hear properly. hehe) During Oklahoma, when Jonathan has his hat put on, I noticed that his coat on his left side was coming off (but since it was buttoned, it didn't completely come off), and that he lost a cuffling for his right sleeve, so that was undone, showing through his coat. So, he was really out of wack during the song, which was perfect. and he kept swaying on stage right before Norbert's line "well, she seemed nice"
(oh, and while I am writing this, I'm watching Jonathan in Pirates. hehehe.)
ok, well, Ruprecht. very cool! Jonathan was cracking a smile even before Norbert came out. Norbert did the humping and after he had turned Jonathan over, they started to slowly fall off the bed. they were both laughing during this. And right when Jonathan said "Do you want me to get the genital cuff?", he pretended to take Norbert's gentials out with a prod, twist them in his hand, crumple them up, throw them on the floor and stamp on them. Norbert was screaming during the whole time. Now, I have seen Jonathan with Jason twice recently but never with Norbert. was this completely improved or did they add it in when Jonathan came in? When Jonathan was about to put him to sleep, Norbert put the blanket on his shoulders and pretended to be ready to box with him. Very funny.
During Nothing, you could hear Norbert losing his voice and at one point and to turn and cough. but he was still good.
Ruffhausen. oh, my, god. That was fantastic! When I saw the show with Jason, Jonathan ran his hand up Jason's leg when he said "You have no feeling what so ever?" and everytime, he went all the way up to the crouch. This time, when he did it to Norbert, it looked like he was not expecting it cause he leaned forward fast, in surprise. then, while Jonathan was talking, Norbert was very obviously scratching his nose...with his middle finger and smiling. it was very funny. Then he starting tickling Norbert foot and through the toes. And Norbert was smiling away. and then Jonathan ran his finger through his toes. haha.
and when Jonathan did the violin, he did for longer than usual and changed the angle and note. then came up in his crazy fashion and left and everyone broke out in applause. I was so happy!!!
Every song after that was great! and during the balcony scene, you should have seen Lucie's expressions when Greg was talking about the "vineyard."
DRN, everyone was clapping for what seemed like a minute. and during that, Norbert was pointing to Jonathan, as if to point all the applause to him. at the end, everyone gave a standing ovation. Oh, and it looked liked the performance was sold out! fantastic!!!!! and DRS is up to 90.7% this week in the grosses. yay!!!!
so, that is my view. that I can remember. lol.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.
-Dre- You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.
