Norbert was totally choked up during DRN. I would say more than John was when he left.
I'm thinking of the muppets...
Saying goodbye
Going away
Seems like goodbye's such a hard thing to say
Yes, but Norbert finished the song flawlessly and even hit the high note. John was not able to get out all his lines. But regardless, it was a very emotional number and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.
P.S If this is Rent, I call the role of Mark.

Ohh. Fair enough.
Nope, it's the Muppets, and I'm Miss Piggy.
<----Kermit
Gah I can't listen to that muppets song... far too sad for this cry baby.
Hmm, okay Kerrie, how's this one? I totally understand if this one makes you cry too...one of my favorites:
C is for Cookie
That's good enough for me
C is for Cookie
That's good enough for me
C is for Cookie
That's good enough for me
Ohh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C
You know...I get a little emotional thinking of that song...*tear* (:-P)
LMAO

Do you know Cookie Monster no longer sings that? He doesn't even eat cookies all the time anymore! COokies are a special treat now!

Got home Sunday afternoon, good to be back, trip was wonderful!
What to say? I went, I saw the show, I hung out with Greg a whole big bunch, got to spend time with him and his family between shows Saturday. It was all awesome.
Show Thursday night was great. Greg excellent as always. No entrance applause from me. Amanda, don't be offended, but Greg really isn't supposed to get any ... it wasn't written in for him to, and he doesn't expect it. IMHO ... and I did sit there considering it beforehand ... giving him entrance applause would mess up the flow of the show. Even you admit it causes another actor's lines to be missed by people. Greg's first applause appropriately comes at the end of Chimp in a Suit. That's where it's meant to go. So, no, I didn't give him or try to start entrance applause for him because I'd rather give it where it's meant to be given, sorry. (Hope that doesn't make anyone mad, but there you go, my opinion, and I really think I'm right. And nobody outside his family loves Greg more than I do. And plus he and I talked about this, and he agrees that he's not supposed to get any and that his big first applause belongs after CiaS, so there. lol)
Like I said, Greg was excellent as always. I enjoyed getting to see the show again after having seen it opening night. Now here's where Annie may get mad at me -- I hope not, Annie -- but between John and Jonathan, I preferred Jonathan's 'Lawrence'. As much as I adore John Lithow (hard not to), it just seemed to me that Jonathan acts the part more, fleshes it out more, whereas with John, I felt more like I was watching *him* on stage and not seeing him transform into the character like I believe Pryce did.
Enjoyed seeing Lucie as Muriel ... very different performance than Joanna. I like both for different reasons. One good thing about Lucie's take on the role, I think, is that it was easier to believe this was once a poor chorus girl from Omaha who married into money.
Loved seeing Norbert again -- loved the chemistry between he and Jonathan.
Can't think of much else ... will copy from email who I remember meeting backstage ... will just (basically) quote that whole paragraph:
Was fun getting to not only hang out with Greg (which was just the best in itself), but also to get to have some nice chats with Jack (just love him, what an amazing and interesting guy!) and Amber, since other than Greg, they're back in his room more than anyone else. Backstage people besides Jack and Amber I met were: Patrick Bevilacqua; John Cooper (sound guy), Lonnie (stage hand); Pam (wardrobe); Kevin Kennedy (I dig KK; hugged him, the ****cat!); Dina Steinberg (co. mgr.); Dana Williams (asst. stage mgr); Enrique (hair dept.); Joe (stage door guy); Don (automation carpenter). I'm probably missing somebody... but that's close to it, if not it. Since the auction cam was going on, the ensemble people didn't drop by during the half, so i didn't personally meet them, save for Tom, who stuck his head in a few times over the course of the times I was back there to say hi to me. Main cast ... met everybody, including Sara, at one time or other, if only briefly. But I wasn't really there for them. Everyone seemed really nice.
Great to meet Malki, Ryan, and to see Kerrie (whom I recognized right away) and her roommate in front of the theatre as I was walking around before time to meet up with Greg on Friday night to go hang with him backstage. They were kind enough to indulge me and let me take them to dinner. Much fun. I don't think Kerrie's mentioned this, so figure she was waiting to let me tell it. :) I love you, Kerrie! :)
Time to go kiss Eric goodnight. Thank God, he has been great, no problems. I called home often while I was away, but I really needed this trip too. Did me a lot of good ... a really nice, extended "mom's day out"!
x's and o's to all....
I LOVE BARB!!!
It was so good to meet you, Barb. I said that already, but wanted to say it again.
Fair enough, Barb. I suppose I'm most vocal about it, but it takes more than just me to give an audible entrance applause. Again, I'm probably most vocal about it, but you didn't have to completely single me out...
Today was only the second time I've been at the show that there has been an audible entrance applause for him, so at least it hasn't happened that often. I'm sorry to have participated in it; it was done with good intentions. But what about Sunday? I can't imagine that with or without me he wouldn't get some sort of entrance applause for his last show. But if you feel it's better for me not to participate, I won't.
Sorry I missed you, but between work and my schedule and my car being repaired...well I had to miss you. I'm glad you had such a great time though.
Really glad Eric's alright.

Well Amanda, you do seem to specifically always brag about it, and I have no idea who else starts any for him ever since (to my knowledge) they haven't come out and said they have.
The audience can do whatever the hell they like I guess, and I admit, maybe a performer's last show is different in a case like this ... but it really does not *fit* and it really isn't missed if he doesn't get it, and he's certainly not going to be disappointed. But do what you feel like doing. I'd save it for Chimp, LZLZ, and especially his final curtain call. Those are the times to pour the audience/fan love on him.
I'd just hate to be someone who's there to see Rachel -- a fan of hers, or perhaps even friends or family -- and miss her first line in the show. Doesn't seem fair to her either.
And never meant (if it came across that way) that Greg isn't appreciative ... of course he is. But he perfectly understands that the show isn't written for him to get entrance applause when he first appears on stage.
His entrance is just too sudden for a good entrance applause. I am curious how next Sunday will go or what kind of response Richard Kind is going to get.
There was one time I remember he wrote on the cam about getting entrance applause, before it ever happened when I was there. I mean, the two times it's happened when I've been there were John's last show and now yesterday. Maybe the audience is just extra cheery and what-not. Sure, I've clapped when he comes out, but no one can hear me when it's just me.
I'll just go with the flow Sunday I suppose. Clap if there is one, not scream.
Obviously the solution as I've said all along was give him a more applausible entrance (kidding).
hey, I'm the screamer in this family.

WHy forve applause guys? It sound cliche, and what not, but I kind of just clap when the mood strikes me.

i think the crowd yesterday was just extra happy to be there...everyone got entrance applause...Greg, Norb and Jon (obviously), Sarah, and Lucie...so yeah it will probably happen next sunday too, but whatev...its not gonna hurt anyone
and i would just like to say that the box seats arent' as bad as i thought they would be. i was expecting them to be real bad, but they weren't. there were some things on far stage left that i couldn't see, but come on, i totally knew what was going on anyways so it didn't really matter lol.
i'm glad i came back to the thread..i missed you guys!!! (totally just getting mushy cuz of yesterday..and the thought of next sunday...sad things do that to me lol)

Pryce and a few others were at Lucie's show at Birdland tonight.
I have to say, she was great!
BTW UIL, never replied to your post which got up there about cookie monster no longer eating cookies. There was a whole thread on it when it happened. It PISSES ME OFF. First Bert and Ernie had to get different rooms because they seemed gay. I mean...just...the cookie monster...not eating cookies? Jim Henson is turning in his grave. And I'd love to hear Frank Oz's thoughts on it.
Cool that you got to see Lucie at Birdland tonight UIL. I too got to see a DRS'er perform--one I've missed and haven't seen in a while--Joe Cassidy! He was in this concert at this club called the Titan and he sang two songs--a duet with Mano which was beautiful and oh man a complete rock song...had curses at the end and everything. It was really funny, but he was so into it and gah has such an amazing voice...I was so glad I got to see him again. Joe rocked out big time.
