Lawrence O'Donnell's prediction: At least three high level Bush Administration personnel indicted and possibly one or more very high level unindicted co-conspirators. He says not Friday but next week--or anytime in the next 13 days until Fitzgerald's term expires. Tick tock, tick tock...

Karl and others in the administration received the "target letter" from Fitzgerald as an incentive for them to cooperate with the investigation, a plea-bargain as it were.



So if Karl snitches on Bush or Cheney the way he snitched on Valerie Plame, his status could be dimished to "unindicted co-conspirator."

If you were Karl, what would YOU do? Plea-bargain? Or remain loyal to the president whose administration you brought down?

And what if Bush turns on Rove--the way his father did when Rove was fired? Wouldn't THAT be a kick?

Karl Rove won't give an inch. Even if he does time in the Big House, he does have an ace in the hole.

He is too ugly for anyone to want to have congress with....

We could probably help alleviate the national debt by having a dunking booth for Rove, Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney and Rice. 50 bucks per toss. The kicker, the water would be straight from New Orleans 9th Ward post-Katrina.

The lines of folks giving money to pay off the debt just for the chance to dunk these fools - miles and miles.

Ahh, just gives me a smile to think about it.

The really exciting thing about all of these options is that, no matter what, we're going to get to see at least one really big fish fry and ruin this administration.
Then again, given the Republican "stand by your man" mentality, they'll probably blame it all on Hilary.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal prosecutors have accepted an offer from presidential adviser Karl Rove to give 11th hour testimony in the case of a CIA officer's leaked identity but have warned they cannot guarantee he won't be indicted, according to people directly familiar with the investigation.

The persons, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because of grand jury secrecy, said Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has not made any decision yet on whether to file criminal charges against the longtime confidant of President Bush or others.

The U.S. attorney's manual requires prosecutors not to bring witnesses before a grand jury if there is a possibility of future criminal charges unless they are notified in advance that their grand jury testimony can be used against them in a later indictment.

Rove has already made at least three grand jury appearances and his return at this late stage in the investigation is unusual.

The prosecutor did not give Rove similar warnings before his earlier grand jury appearances.

If Rove OFFERED to testify, it probably means that he lied in prior grand jury appearances and Rove knows Fitzgerald knows he lied.

So now he hopes that if he sets the record straight Fitzgerald won’t indict him.

So mighty Karl is completely at the mercy of Peter Fitzgerald...

rove volunteered to testify again back in july. fitzy waited until now to call him because he was waiting to talk to judy. look at who called who.

so what happens if after all of this fitzy indicts no one?

I guess we'll just all have to agree that justice was done and that there was nothing there. But, of course, there's plenty there and he's not going to indict no one.

And of course, when he indicts some one(s), we'll all have to agree that the wheels of justice are turning and there must be something there, right?

David Corn's explanation: "Rove would not have asked to appear once more before the grand jury unless he had to. And note that Fitzgerald did not take him up on this offer for nearly three months. That suggests Fitzgerald wanted to collect more material before hearing from Rove yet again."

Actually, the Jeff Gannon thing may very well come back to bit Karl Rove in the butt. Gannon was given access to papers he had no clearance for. Oops.

But tomorrow's Newsweek (below) explains why the White House is in unprecedented panic mode: newly revealed evidence from Judith Miller and Rove's own emails point clearly to Libby and Rove knowing before Wilson's op-ed was printed.
