So, does Adam top Raúl in your book? Who have you been a fan of longer?
hiya! i've popped back in because i can't sleep! hehe. my number is still relatively small...hehe...but it's a climbin'! i'm in new york again in two weeks...and it's reeeally looking to be a two chitty day! (i think i've already posted that...but i'm gonna post it again! so HA!) i'm gonna try and drag my boy to see it (he's not the chitty type, but he does like raul a lot, so we'll see.) if not i definately want to see sweeney...(do they have any kind of rush ticket on that? or am i gonna have to go for a more expensive yet still not full price ticket?)
I've been a fan of Adam's for way longer, and I love him dearly. But, Raul is 100 times the actor Adam will ever learn to be. I don't think I could ever choose one overall, though. I certainly don't know whose voice I like best. They sound similar, but they're very different performers, and very different people.
If you like Raul, that's enough to make you enjoy Chitty.
I don't think Sweeney has rush, but they have $36 mezzanine seats, and it's been on TDF... if that helps you.
yeah...that does help, thanks em.
whether he'll like chitty? i'm not sure...he's definately a cynical, cynical new yorker...he'd definately SAY he didn't like it sheerly out of principle...but we shall see. he'd never agree to see it, so i might have to "surprise" him with tickets...haha. but then again, my bff's a hardcore sondheim fanatic, and she liked chitty alot (not as much as me...but still!) so anything's possible!

Aw. See I feel bad knowing pretty much nothing about him.
And I agree, if you like Raúl then you will like Chitty. I mean, honestly, 90% of the reason I see that show is because of him. I love Ellen and Jan, too. But without Raúl - no way.
I think it's hard NOT to like the show, even if you're against it in concept or principal. It's difficult not to enjoy what's nothing more than an innocent good time.
Adam's... and interesting character. And a hell of a singer.
With that, I think I'm going to get some sleep. Have a good night.
Oh man...my roommate (who was a friend of a friend that I didn't know until a month ago) is now my best friend and has kinda become a little too much like me. We spent the last two hours making crepes and learning to sing Therapy (I sing as Amy b/c I'm not that narcissistic). She wants to see Chitty with Raul in it. We saw it on play-by-play when he was out and something was missing. How can I refuse?
Gotta have me some more Raul love. Hmm...maybe Saturday night. It'll be funny if I see Kook and her boy there. Make him go - tell him only a snob wouldn't go to a cheap, fun show with an actor of Raul's caliber. Then pretend to drop something and pick it up slowly...what? It works!!
Ok, it's 2:15 and I still have homework. That's not right. Night!
goood mooooorning my loverlies! hehe. ang - i can't make it to this saturday...i'll try to take the boy to the saturday after next show...kicking and screaming all the way! haha. i'm seriously thinking of just getting the tickets and not telling him. haha...sometimes i'm a little evil on the inside. :P
I'm skipping class because I'm still miserably ill. I have an exam, but I'd do poorly if I took it today, so I'll take it when I get better.
Is this a straight guy who likes Raul? Impressive.

Thanks! Me, too. I've been getting knocked down with one thing after another, lately. Ah, well.
How are you doing?
iiiick. i hate being sick. yeah, he's straight and likes Raúl...and by likes, I mean respects him as a fellow actor. I think he said he saw him in Cabaret...and was like yeah, he's great. He seemed impressed by him. I feel like if you know anything at all about acting (he's a Meisner student...not that that has anything to do with anything.) you HAVE to respect Raúl because his passion and mastery of his craft is ridiculously incredible.

Oh yes, that's the perfect word for it. Passion!
I'm doing well! I just woke up not too long ago and I feel lazy for sleeping in so late!
That's cool, kook. My brother is thusfar straight(ish), and though he likes to pester me into thinking he hates everything I like, he enjoys Raul and TTB and the like. My brother acts and sings a bit, so I think you're right -- it's recognition of Raul's mastery of the craft.
I woke up at nine because our fire alarms were being tested, but I've been napping on and off all day. I'm hoping that maybe I can just sleep this off. My roommate and I are watching The Birdcage.

Fire alarms have to be a pain!
I've never seen that before!

I don't even know anything about it. But I should rent it. Or do the netflix thing!
It's based on La Cage Aux Folles. Or is it the other way around? Either way, it's great. (I can't believe I forgot which came first.)

Really? I'd love to see it then. I was so close to seeing the revival of La Cage. But it closed before I could get there.
it's based on La Cage (but the original French movie? I don't know which came first...the stage show or the French film...I want to say it's the film.)
I really wanted to see the revival, but it closed right before I got back into the city.

Me too! It seems like I always miss shows. I put off seeing them until it is too late. The same thing happened to me with Millie and Taboo.
On La Cage...the film came first, then the stage play, then the musical. And The Birdcage is, indeed, awesome. And from what I've heard, the revival wasn't worth seeing.
I missed it, as well. I had plans to go, but then it... closed.
I just posted so much Raul love on the main board; I am, indeed, an idiot.
It's Chatterbox time.
This is what I do when I'm sick. Except now I have Adam AND Raul. I used to just watch Adam's over and over.

That was really beautiful the way you described his eyes. And you're not an idiot. I think it really says volumes about him that you were able to say so much about just that one feature of his.
But it is very true, what you said. When he looks at you, you know that you have his full attention. Even at a crowded stage door. It's like he blocks everything else out and you are the only thing he sees or wants to see. And when he makes eye contact from the stage... wow. I've always felt it's like he's challenging me. He's not just looking AT me he's looking INSIDE of me. Even in a show as huge as Chitty. And that can feel really dangerous. Because it's like he sees something in you that you don't want him to see. It feels like an invasion. But it's the most fantastic feeling. It really can't be put into words. It has to be experienced.
