Wow, lucky!
I find myself, like... feeling the need to perpetually thank someone like that who has become a legitimate part of my life... just for his time, honesty, kindness and friendship. I feel like these random bouts of extravagant thanks are sort of silly, but I also know that he knows what I mean. I feel like there's no way I can "repay" what he's given me, but I'm sure as hell going to try.

I completely agree with you, Kook. That's what I hope for - I hope that some of my praise or kind words will touch them in some way, as well. Just to let them know that their hard work is noticed and is appreciated. And who knows, the person could be having a terrible day. And I'd like to think my words might make a difference.
Can't hurt to remind him how many lives he's able to touch.
I always remember a story a good friend of mine told me. His freshman year at Villanova he was cast in the graduate production of Parade as Frankie Epps. Needless to say, it was a big deal. He was absolutely amazing in the role...his best to date, I'd say. Everyone was totally fawning over him. The next year, he was Judas in the underclassmen JCS. He was just as fabulous in this role, but no one ever told him he did a good job, or said anything about his performance at all. It TOTALLY bummed him out and he was trés depressed for weeks. Finally, he asked a good friend of his about it, and he told him that he was great, and everyone thinks he's great, but by now he must KNOW that he's great and talented, so what's the point of telling him again?
That just always really stuck with me, and drives me to keep praising people or whatever over and over again..."just in case you forgot" kinda deal.

Absolutely! And since he talks all the time about how he thinks that his audiences should be connected, I'm sure he loves to hear feedback.

I sort of think of it more as... not that they ARE talented, but the way in which they USE the talent. So much of my admiration for these people is because they're good people, not just because they have killer pipes.

He blows me away all the time with how great of a human being he is. That inspires me, as well. I mean, sure there are tons of nice actors on Broadway, but he stands out because he has a heart of absolute gold.
Well, there's "nice" and then there's genuine nice.

Yes, exactly. You explain it better than I can. He never makes it feel like he's just being nice because that's his job and he has to. Or because he wants to look good in front of the public eye. It's not like that.
It doesn't feel like he's doing you a favor by sticking his arm around you and smiling. Or something.

It's flashback Adam! I couldn't decide what to use, so it'll probably change again soon.

Aww I like it! But I think my favorite one of yours is of Raúl from Hair.
The one with the colorful lyrics?
And the belly that I want to poke.
*hoohoo!* (that was my imitation of the pillsbury dough boy.)
