I know it's bad for his voice, and that it's just bad in general, and I feel like the devil saying so (and for thinking it) but he looks incredibly sexy smoking. So does Adam, for that matter.

nia, in the show, he gets in trouble for using his not-fully-working machine to give a guy a haircut when he goes to the fair to try and show off his inventions. Since the machine is bad, the guy ends up bald and tries to chase him away after unsucessfully trying to beat him up. Caractacus wants to blend in and hide while at the fair, so he hops on stage and joins in some show that's going on - which happens to be this scene, Me Ole Bamboo.

(Pity he's taken indeed, Orpheum.)

Smoking can be attractive. Come to think of it - I don't believe I've ever actually seen him smoking. I'll add it to my to-do list.

No, part of the scene shows him flailing about and running in circles trying to catch up with the dancers and figure out the steps. But it's great because it takes a good dancer to look like he can't dance. It's adorable. He stays confused for a bit, then picks it up and dances along with everybody else.
