I know this is something you feel strongly about, and I know it's VERY unlikely, but what if the secret maker truly did have some sort of experience with him? Is it that person's obligation to stay completely quiet about it as well?
I'm probably not the one to talk about things like this considering I am, as I've said before, pretty laid back when it comes to this kind of stuff.
I know the Adam one reflects poorly on those who find him both talented and attractive, but it makes me laugh because I'm sure there are so many teenyboppers out there who buy his albums, etc. but only truly like him because he's OMG HOT.
To answer your question, yes, I think it is. Looking in from the outside, anyway. I mean, I'd suspect whoever does whatever with him knows what's going on, and maybe he truly doesn't care who says what. But... I just think it's tasteless, in any situation, especially one like this, to... stick it on the internet. I just think it's really disrespectful and kind of low. I don't think that having sex with the guy gives you the right to do stuff like that, by any means. I don't know. I shouldn't feel so strongly about it, but I do. I mean, if you f*cked him, fine. tell your best friend, not the whole worldwide web.

I definitely agree that it is in poor taste and low. However, I personally feel that if he chooses to engage in that type of behavior, he also has to bear the potential consequences... in this case, gossip about him on the internet.
Of course, it would be a lot nicer and classier for the person he supposedly slept with to keep his mouth shut. I just can't bring myself to ever get truly angry about this sort of stuff making its way onto the internet when I'm sure Raul knows the potential consequences.
Sorry, I'm truly not trying to convince you to feel a particular way and I know you're not trying to do that to me. It's not even so much that we have different opinions as much as varying degrees of how much internet gossip bothers us. It's totally cool. :)
Just FYI... I personally wouldn't post any information about Raul on a public forum, so don't worry about that.

No, I know. I was going to say I trust you, or something, but... I guess in the grand scheme, what does it matter? There are enough people who disagree with me that it's out there if you want it.
I love the people who are like "What?! Say it ain't so!" hah. Just take ONE look at him.
A la the secrets about Adam, I doubt this person actually slept with him. I mean, you can pick this up by doing a lot less than having sex with him. I mean, why would someone who was that close to him be posting on Broadwaysecrets, you know? Either way, I don't think it's the responsibility *anyone* other than Raul himself... which I know is a really conservative view. It just angers me because these are REAL people to me, and I'm just not generally of the belief that if happens, it should be talked about.
Funny thing is, I don't have as big of a problem with gossip when I'm removed from it. I just care about these people as more than images of fame. It's hypocritical, and I don't like it, but in a way, I guess it's natural.

:) Honestly, I really wouldn't because I don't even agree with what the person did myself. I just... don't get as angry about it, you know? I hope that doesn't mean that he, or Adam, or whomever aren't real people to me (although I'm sure the fact that you've met them and I haven't makes a difference). I do care about their well-being, but people will be people.
Anyway, I'm really going to head out for a few minutes. Hopefully the Rent secrets don't cause as much drama. Heh.
I've found what you're all talking about. These secrets aren't really fun anymore.
I liked your reply.

No, no, Lexi, that's not what I meant. I mean it in comparison to like... a movie star or someone I just don't care about, you know? When people joke about Jake Gyllenhaal being gay, I laugh. Hell, I participate. But there's not that.... that connection. There's so much more removal in that what you say has less chance of getting back to them, and that you'll probably never be face to face with them. I guess that's what the difference is for me, as finite as that is.
I don't really know how to explain it. It just makes me mad that people do sh*t like that. It's... just uncalled for, and really not their business. You shouldn't do it.
Sigh, Raul.
Oh, more LJ secrets drama. Somehow I'd naively hoped that we would avoid that this week.
That was crappy of whoever made that secret, but that's what those communities are there for, you know? I don't think that it's really fair to get more defensive over things said about certain performers because we like them more. A lot of the stuff on those things is said in bad taste, but we read it because we can't resist the gossip. Or, well, that's my reason.
But even though that's what they're FOR, in a way, I still -- and I know, I'm naive and conservative here -- think that there are things you do and don't do. I think the whole thing is inviting people to be tasteless and pathetic, but I really think people should still have some respect for these people. Granted, I care less about the Cary crap than I do about this, because of WHO I care about. I mean... even though it's not totally under the rug, this is something much bigger to deal with than "oh, he smoked pot," or what you think of someone's performance. This isn't something he did once, or one mistake he made. This is his life. I just don't think these secrets should be about making decisions for people. I know I'm over reacting, because this person hasn't like... TRULY outed him, but....
... oh, I don't know.
Yeah, I understand the frustration. I just think that, you know, the whole idea of inviting people to post juicy tidbits about Broadway stars is (unfortunately) bound to result in some tasteless comments. Which that one was, but there's kind of a fine distinction between what's fun and what's going too far. Not everyone adheres to the same standards of tact, and not everyone cares as much for Raul's wellbeing as you do. That certainly doesn't excuse it, but it was sort of... bound to happen eventually? I don't know.
Well, yeah. It's an invitation to open really ugly cans of worms, unfortunately... and I guess in so many ways, it's not worth fighting, as much as I want to. I just... bottom line, think that as juicy as it is, it's nobody's to tell but his. And maybe that'll never happen. I know a lot of people don't think it's too far -- even people on this board. :-/
I think that especially since I feel like what happened last week was an accusation of my possibly harming him in some way, I just don't like when people do things like that. It's not like it's easy.

Let's cheer up, yes? At least we know that the Rent secrets won't have anything to do with Raul's sexuality.
I don't mean to interupt any discourse, but it's such an "agree to disagree" topic anyway.
Sorry, that was begging to be posted.
heeeee.
I didn't mean to imply that it was you guys when I said some people on this board -- I mean that there are people who post theads about it and go "oh, hell, it's fair game!!" Totally out of line.

I still can't get over their expressions! Raul is totally puffing out his chest.
No, don't worry. I'm sure if you had something to say to me, you'd say it directly to me and not say "people on the board." Everything's cool!
Nah, all of those people I've had REAL fights with in the past. Not you :)
hee. He really is puffing!
I think what I keep meaning to say in terms of this fine distinction is that these communities, to me, are for you to post YOUR secrets -- not somebody else's.
I find it amusing how Adam is totally hotter than Raul (who, let's be for real, looks pretty dorky) during Chess, and Raul looks amazing in Hair whereas Adam seems to be going through an awkward hair phase. Why can't they both be looking their best in one or the other? It's not fair to us, picture-wise.
hee, it's true.
The Cabaret picture is a good one of both, no?
What one?

Ashley, what are you talking about? Sunglasses are INHERENTLY cool!
And yes, the Cabaret one is good. I don't think the one of Adam looking five inches shorter than Raul from Chess is too bad, either.

This is the one I was referring to:
Raul's expression is... weird, but he otherwise doesn't look too bad. Perhaps it's because the stomach isn't visible.
Perhaps it's because the stomach isn't visible.
*throws things* :P
But yes, those are both good. I just like the Hair one so much, if only Adam didn't look so... not like himself.

I'm sorry. It's true.
Doesn't Raul have a navel ring?
SNUGGLING!
