So, everyone... what's the oldest food in your fridge, and how long has it been there?

In my fridge, there's a bottle of toasted pecan syrup, which I believe has been there since February of 2002.

Some butterscotch topping that's been in there since like last year.

And truly disgusting...

some chocolate syrup that's been in there since about 1999.

And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

I have no idea how old my Mayo is, and I don't even want to know!

It wasn't in the fridge...but there were some oats in the pantry that expired 3 years ago.

Hmm...I've got some soda from last January and a bottle of teriyaki sauce from, I believe, late 2001. That's pretty bad...

I've got some jelly from last summer I think. Nothing is really that old because I am easily grossed out by left overs. If it is over 3 days old it gets thrown away.

I realized the only meal I've cooked in my new apartment is still represented by a container of leftovers in my fridge. So it's only about three weeks but thank god for dollar store storage containers.

Teriyaki sauce (Rose, does it age well), Worcestershire sauce, and a box of baking soda that will be replaced this weekend.

Oh, and a bottle of chili sauce which, I believe, I brought home from a picnic last summer.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

When my mom cleaned out the fridge last week we threw out leftovers from Christmas dinner. I thought that was pretty disgusting.

Condiments, as well.

I think a jar of mustard. Blech.

I know that there's a jar of boysenberry jam that glows green after I close the fridge door.

Haha, funny topic. I just went to check, and there are a few contenders in there for the title, but I'll go with a jar of pepperoncini. How old? I'd have to guess at over a year!
Shame on me.

The only good thing about hurricane Katrina was that it forced me to clean out my fridge and freezer. The power was out at my place for about 11 days, so I cleaned it out on day 4, and found stuff that had been in there since I bought the place in October of 04.

I'm pretty good about cleaning out the "main cabin" of the fridge. But the condiments in the door - some of them are old, pushing one or two years, probably.

Mustard is a huge culprit. And there are about four jars of it, because I always forget it's there and I buy more!

I finally ran out of soy sauce (goodness knows how old that was!) and had to buy a new bottle.

Umm, do you have to refrigerate soy sauce once it's open, because I don't? Oops!

It's up in a cabinet with the olive oil, spices and the Pam.

Shameless - good question, I don't know, actually if soy sauce needs to be refrigerated.

Honestly, I put a lot of things in the fridge that don't "need" to be there (soy sauce, peanut butter, for example), because I have limited cabinet space. I figure - fridge won't hurt it and there's even some room in there!

Gotta love the galley kitchen. My monster bottle of olive oil (definitely NOT in the fridge) takes up almost the entire spice area...

Well, I use it whenever I order in sushi, because I use the low salt version, and it hasn't made me sick yet.
