I cried SO HARD the first time I saw that (and it takes a lot to get me to cry at movies). Great acting, great script, great everything.

I was definitely slightly disturbed when I read the thread title...

I do however, love this movie re: 'The Other Sister' musical due to come out March '05...

I really love this one.

"I love marching bands"

I can hear a song in there somewhere!

Last time I saw Juliette Lewis, she was on HBO's "Hysterical Blindness" and that God-awful J. Lo movie "Enough". I've also seen her doing commercials for the Independent Film Channel.

I could handle the musical if it meant Idina could sing her own material, such as "Follow if You Lead".

Otherwise, no way in hell.

And Juliette Lewis? She was good....but now, please see what Marquise said

Juliette Lewis is currently carving herself a career as a rock singer. She sings on one of the songs on the new Prodigy album Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned and is in talks to join them for at least part of their world tour. She also has a band, Juliette And The Licks. I saw them perform at the Viper Room when I was in LA last year and she was kickass.

I LOVE that film but its the only thing I've ever liked her in (Juliette)
That scene where she and the mother are tromping through the golf course fighting is so frigging funny...
"I hate this hat and these stupid shoes and...oh but I REALLY like this dress!"
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

And who didn't love Mr. Ribisi? He was in every way remarkable. And Lewis really went for it, acting without a net. I've always been a secret fan of this movie, despite it being much maligned.

Giovanni Ribisi is remarkable in everything he does. I love him. Oh, and Juliette Lewis was in Cold Creek Manor, too. Now that really is scraping the barrel. But she's great in it.

i was avoiding this thread, but....

am i alone in thinking that this film, along with most films about the mentally retarded, autistic, what-have you, essentially amount to a modern-day version of a minstrel show; with actors aping a stock set of tics, vocal patterns, and physical movement? this treamtent used to be heaped upon the jewish, african-american, american indian, irish, the list is endless.....

That movie was the one that prompted people to start telling me I look like Giovanni Ribisi.

But it was never, 'Hey, you look like Giovanni Ribisi.'

It was always 'Hey, you look like the retarded boyfriend in THE OTHER SISTER.'

I mean...they couldn't compare me to the dirty but sexy version Mr. Ribisi put forth in the movie subUrbia???

Robbiej, you've always reminded me of the narrator from THE VIRGIN SUICIDES.

As long as I don't remind you of the geeky boy who had a crush on Stacy Keanan on MY TWO DADS, then we're all good!

Now that you mention it, you do look like the Judge who kept them together for so long.
