I was just browsing on Amazon and saw a DVD recording of the Australian Opera's production of The Pirates Of Penzance, and was wondering if anyone owns or has seen it, and if so would you recommend purchasing it?
The Pirates of Penzance, Australian Opera
I have it. It's hilarious. XD Y'know how Frederick is all angry at Ruth because she's not pretty because she's 47, and how could such an ancient hag ever be a good wife for a lad of 25? The fella playing Frederick was 47 at the time of filming. XD And you can tell. I imagine it works a lot better onstage. O_O Anthony Warlow does a very good Johnny Depp impersonation for the Pirate King. Which is a little cringe-inducing to watch, but he does have the most FABULOUS voice, so he just about gets away with it. I didn't really like the Major General at all though.
Um... sorry, I'm always very reluctant to recommend things; just 'cos I love something doesn't mean it's necessarily any good. I'll just say that I have it and I enjoy it. :3
I actually ordered this from Amazon last year and never got it. This thread just reminded me. It's probably too late to do anything now.
Lol. Yeah, probably.
