Plum, please. I have enough ulcers forming as it is when it comes to the Rent movie. I don't need you rubbing salt in the wounds. I am well aware of the issues surrounding Chris Columbus. In all fairness, though, I find it hard to believe that such a big fan of the musical as he is (I've read things, indicating that this is so) would make the movie boring and uninteresting. BAD, sure. But not dull.
Honestly, the #1 reason I'm looking forward to it would be to have another professionally recorded, ENGLISH version of RENT to listen to.

I'm sure Columbus was a Harry Potter fan, too. Take that as you will.
And I'm not trying to rub salt in anyone's wounds; I'm just being honest. The only way this movie will start happening quickly is if there's a properly placed studio executive urging it along. These executives are few and far between, and they don't seem to be musical theater fans or people of exceptional taste and wisdom. Good projects get stuck in the aforementioned Development Hell for any number of reasons- I'm just saying you shouldn't get too excited, or even think too hard about a Rent movie while it's at this amorphous stage. You'll just end up wasting your energy and being disappointed.
I should have made more liberal use of the smileys. I was mostly being silly. I'm not over here gasping for air being "OMG, TEH RENT MOVIE I CAN'T WAIT *gasp* WILL IT BE GOOD *gasp* WHEN IS IT COMING OUT!?!?!?! *gasp*
I suppose it could still be considered in developmental hell, but from what I've heard, the reason all these posts have started cropping up anew is because Columbus has taken the steps to make Rent NOT be stuck in limbo forever. My sources tell me that before the year is done, we'll know for sure if it's going to be made.

And I was simply saying that I've seen rumblings for all kinds of movies that never happened. There was a brief rumbling for a Rent movie by Spike Lee, too, remember? Talk is nice- it's definitely better than no talk- but you shouldn't get excited until cast and crew start signing on for certain, and you shouldn't make plans for watching it on opening day until it's actually started filming. And sometimes not even then.
