Mmm, my fave way to hear it is a children's choir.
didn't Jim Henson die right before The Muppet Christmas Carol? That surely didn't suck, but I guess it was the last great Muppet movie.
I had read somewhere that after Jim's death, the character Rowlf never speaks, he is only shown. Sorta as a tribute.
I thought that was pretty cool.
I feel really stupid 'cause I love the Muppets, know lots of music, yet in my brain I can't place this song!

It was sung by Kermit, sitting on a lily pad in the swamp, playing a banjo, in the opening scene of the first Muppet Movie.

There's a snippet of it here. Track 12.
The Rainbow Connection
That is the best part of the Muppet Movie. I love that song! I still have a copy of the Muppet Movie on VHS and I can't bear to part with it.
I love this song! I saw a five year old kid sing it at a talent show and it was adorable, and now I have the Carpenter version.
There was a tribute to Jim Hensen on PBS years ago called "The World of Jim Hensen." It went through his entire career, from his start soing puppet shows on TV at 11:30 at night to Sesame Street to Laberynth (sp?) and it closed with Kermit singing The Rainbow Connection, it was one of the best things PBS has ever aired.

So, after listening to the Karen Carpenter clip, I was longing to hear Kermit... and it seems the Muppet Movie Soundtrack is out of print! Some used and rare record dealers have it for 90 bucks!!!
I may have to go rent the movie...
If anyone sang it?????????????????? What about....WING?????
