good evening all -
How is everyone this evening?
I see our darling Cam has left on her east coast sojourn...
I'm sure you all join me in wishing her a an exciting holiday. a safe return, and a plethora of fantastic photos and anecdotes to share with us!!
Meanwhile - if you could all be on vacation for Christmas - where would you go?
Not to shabby today. Feet are throbbing from my first full day of Christmas shopping. Pointy stilettos do not good walking shoes make. UGH. Will be dragging my sorry tired ass outta here later on tonight but now I'm vegetating and chilling on eBay.
How are you?
Oh yeah, nad if I could be on vacation for Christmas, I'd be in NYC because Home Alone 2 looked awesome and I'd love to be on 5th Ave and Rockefeller Ctr on XMas Eve!

having spent many a christmas in NYC i can tell you it can be a lot of fun to go skating a Rock Center and then taking a lovely walk up fifth (to see the windows) light a candle at St. Pat's and even brave the cold (and the dark) and walk (or take a carriage) through central park to Tavern-on-the-green for a late night "toddy" under the twinkling lights...
I'm well and feeling the holiday - the kids got terrific grades this quarter and we are extremely proud of them and we put up our first tree in the States together - it was almost like a second honeymoon...

Fourteen hours of school does not mix well with four hours of sleep, this I now know.

nothing mixes well with 4 hours of sleep
i'm an 8 hour girl - to be sure...
Poor Som. At least you slept. I was writing that goddamn final (take home exam, whatever) straight up until 8:15 this morning, then got ready for my dr's appt in the morning and just got home a half hour ago from stupid XMas shopping. Ugh. UGH. Need sleep.
So I take it the kids won't be meeting up with you and Mr. Browne in NYC for Xmas this year?
How's the Christmas shopping been going, guys? I've got a couple of cousins from Delaware (5 and 12 yrs old) coming in next week and I've been running around like mad today. Who the hell came up with SO MANY BARBIES AND MY LITTLE PONIES between the time of my childhood and now?? I feel quite deprived!

I was never a barbie person, but I LOVED horses. Not doing much Christmas shopping, I've got my family done and there really isn't anyone else worth buying anything for.
Is everyone off having a life tonight?
I wasn't too much of a Barbie person either - apparently in my misspent youth, my main pasttime was breaking off their heads. (Mwahahaha.)
But I was walking into Toys R Us today in a daze! Everything's pink, Spongebob, Disney and a mad crowd of crazy parents whose lives apparently depend on getting some goddamn green "Wish bear Care Bear" that glows in the dark. OMFG.
I'll be off getting a life tonight, at the very least so I can get out of the house and avoid Raf (aka The Paraplegic Date from Hell) who won't stop phoning me.

So I'll be alone.
Sorry, I'm very tired and depressed.

no tiff - *hold back tears*
we will not be with them this christmas...
I guess they are as cool with it as kids can be....
I think we are sadder than they are - 'cause they are still getting the gifts (you know how kids can be...)
but they will be here all next summer!!!
my shopping (and shipping) is DONE!!! one of the benefits of a long-distance holiday.... must plan ahead...
so - just me and hubby )and 5 DAYS OFF!! it really is kinda like a 2nd honeymoon!!
Aww, I'm sure the kids are sad, they just can't tell you otherwise they'll think you'll think they're going soft! Have they always grown up in Barbados?
At least you and the hubby get some time to yourself! No quick trip outta the tri-cities?
Aww Som, don't be depressed. Well, I doubt that'll convince you of anything. Wanna vent?
Do any of you guys buy online? I swear to got eBay and amazon.ca have taken over my life.

hey som - I'm here till 2am at least
Som, you get alone time with Fredi! Think of the bragging rights!
Hey did you guys hear about that women who was kidnapped a few days ago and her baby was cut out of her stomach?!

yes - they are born in Barbados and have yet to visit outside the island - but we have been planning this "transition" for a long time and so far we are on schedule....
hubby and i are beat and just want to chill - we have a bunch of trips we could take - but we might end up having a couple of "special" egg nogs and a massive snuggle-fest!!

no - but what a bummer...!
Mmm alcohol. I could use a Baileys right now. Mmm... Snuggle-fests are highly underrated! Is it going to be a quiet Christmas? Just dinner, rent some movies, the like?
Here's the story. My mistake - the woman was actually murdered and her baby cut out.

That's frightening. Did they catch the maniac yet?
Fredi, enjoy your time off! Go see if there's anything special going on in your area, make a nice date.
"When you're alone at night
Do you run and hide?
Are you strong inside
Are you full of pride
Or just... Petrfired?"

I'm afraid of being alone... I won't make you listen to that story. It's quite long.

quiet christmas is right...
i don't rent - if anything we'll watch one we have (over 400!!)
or whatever dvd's i get for christmas... (my family knows it's the easiest way out since my goal is to own every movie ever made...)
and my favorite drink - mexican coffe! coffee (natch) tequila and kaluha *aaahhhhh* at christmas, I add egg nog instead of whipped cream YUM!
thanks for the link - gives me more reasons to count my blessings...

nia - i used to be afraid to be alone too - especially at night...
don't really remember when (or how) i got over it... it just came gradually...
now a few hours alone (any time) is such a GIFT!!
They have a couple of people in custody, but nothing's for sure yet. How horrible and frightening!
Aww Som, spill it. Are you afraid of being romantically alone or just alone in general?
Fredi, what DVDs are you still looking for? Watching movies are an addicting for me, although owning them are financially prohibitive at this point! *sigh* I'm hoping to kick back and watch When Harry Met Sally when I get home tonight!

When I say 'alone', I don't mean I'm scared of the boogeyman or boys... it's a long story, like I said.
Well Fredi and I have got time!

i'm mostly collecting new stuff now...
all the stuff from this last summer...
(stepford
manchurian
spidey 2
etc...
and the "blaxplotation" films of the 70's - there's a bunch of those I don't have...
i'm missing 2 cohen bros. and a couple of hitchcocks...
and always room for old classics...
i've recently gotten into westerns so there's a lot of room there too....
owning them is cheaper than renting them for me...
especially between columbia and the $5 dvd bin a walmart!

Wow Fredi. I don't think I could stand to watch all of those, I'd go stir-crazy.
Tiff, you don't want to hear.
