<-- Good avatar for now? I'm a huge and saddened Jerry fan.
Okay, here's my issue. A group of my friends and I were planning on doing our XMas/New Years celebration dinner/hanging out thing either today or tomorrow. So last week I sent out a mass email (our typical way of making plans) to see which day works best. Out of the 8 of them, only 2 responded. So I waited for more responses. And waited. And waited.
Finally yesterday, I sent out another mass email asking if we were doing anything or what. I got an email back (yep, another mass email) saying yes, they've decided to book a hotel room (stupid idea - there's going to be 10-12 of us!), and we'll either have a potluck, go out to eat or order in pizza, etc. It'll cost $12/person, yada yada yada. The email finishes "email me if you can make it or not", etc. In other words, even though this was meant for me to organize, and I attempted to, it seems like they've went behind my back (deliberately or not - point is I have no say in this anymore), organized this, and now it's up to ME to show up or not.
Do I have a right to be irked? Should I blow it off tomorrow?

I'd say yeah, you should be slightly irked, but I honestly don't think it's that huge of a deal. Obv you only hang around with cool people (like moi), so I say just go and have a good time, instead of sitting at home harumphing. Just be safe in the knowledge that you could have organized something way better, and smirk to yourself at every opportunity.

True, but there's always been this underlying tension between me and the crew. They're the same circle of friends I hang out with when Raf (aka The Paraplegic Date From Hell - who just formally asked me out last week) started focussing on me. I'm substantially younger than most of them and I was introduced to them by another friend. Basically, I'm the 8th wheel. It just pisses me off because last time they got on my case about planning things and then blowing it off (usually because they wound up wanting to leave things to the last minute, or they didn't give any input to the plans and I finally gave up) - so now I'm trying to plan something that I actually wanted to attend, and they knew that, and still decided not to include me.
I mean, basically, if I hadn't sent out that email asking what was going on, no one would have contacted me to see if I wanted to go. (And this isn't a traditional thing - I don't think. I was just introduced to this group in April.)

Go - make a big scene - bitchslap the whores.
OR...just gently say 'what's the deal? How come you didn't let me know?' Consider their reaction carefully. If they give you a suitably humble apology, forgive them and move on. Or if they blow you off with a 'whatever', come back to me and I'll see what dastardly plans I can rustle up, because then you may have a slight problem.
You're right. But if it won't even dawn on them that I'm not there, aren't I wasting my time going to begin with if my positive contribution goes unnoticed?
Plus, is it only me or does it seem like a dumb idea - 10-12 people (including several...porty types) squished into one hotel room (2 queen beds that will likely go unused aside from us cramming to sit on them). We bring in food and just sit and...I don't know...eat? Hang out? Watch TV? And like, are we going to go home at the end of the night? I mean, with the dough they're dropping on getting the hotel room and then buying food to bring, why don't we just go out for a good dinner and a night out instead?
Eh, I dunno......I'm not so much pissed that they planned this without me - more the fact that I wasn't told about any of this and they would have been fine leaving me in the lurch tomorrow and not contacting me. And the fact that they didn't ask my input - it's basically, if you're going to come, let us now. I mean...I dunno, I'm thinking "F*CK them." But hey...
Thank you muchly!
Kicking around ideas for a new fanfic...
You're right Ellie. I should find out their reason for leaving me in the lurch. And they REALLY left me in the lurch - I talked to one of the ppl in the group on the 26th and she gave no inkling that anything was being planned.
But should I attend the shindig and find out why I got screwed? Or should I find out tonight? Because if it's a stupid reason, I don't want to hang out with these SH*Theads for the rest of the night.
I guess my other option is sitting at home drinking. (I've drank way too much over the last few days. I have a permanent headache.)

tiff (and cam)
here goes Ma Fredi again but....
seriously - the beauty of being an adult is that you actually get to make your own choices for yourselves..
you can always be civil and polite and take the higher road (which i always recommend on spiritual level) and still feel free
TO BLOW OFF ANY MOTHERF****RS YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN OR WHO DO NOT TREAT YOU WITH THE LOVE AND RESPECT YOU DESERVE!!!!
Sample dialouge:
for tiff -
sorry guys - but i didn't hear from you in so long and my family has made subsequent plans for that night....
for cam -
gosh (b*** whose name i don't know) i just got back from the east coast and i'm sooooo behind with everything and exhausted and blah, blah, blah,...
the bottom line...
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCOMODATE ANYONE UNLESS YOU WANT TO!!! And
if you CHOOSE to accomodate users and losers, don't b*** about it. take the experience for what it is and learn from it - even if the lesson is NOT TO FIND YOURSELF IN THAT POSITION EVER AGAIN!!
Keep drama ONSTAGE not in your life!!!!
