Posted: 12/29/04 at 9:32pmOkay, I like this advice more, guys. Blowing them off, it will be! (But with the family excuse. Or better yet, the "I'm going out with my glamorous cooler friends at BWW---I mean, from work, instead.")

Oh goodie, I like that convo. (Like my icon? No MJ in sight!)
Where shall we start? Perhaps remarking on the Broadway shows he graced, even though most of us were probably too young to have seen him live?

For Jerry. I had no idea it was this serious.
Tiff - blow 'em off, but why the excuse? Did they show you the same courtesy? Or am I being immature?

now you're talking tiff..
F*** 'em - but always in the nicest way possible...
the first step to true and lasting self esteem is to not allow yourself to be used or treated badly by others just for "something to do" or the "need to hang out"
we are all creative people here - and this is not to say that we don't get lonely at times for "actually connection" as Jonanthan says...
but - it is a matter of STANDARDS and the best possible thing for your psyche and your spirit is NOT TO LOWER YOURS!!!!
you are much better off here on bww - or doing something creative with your time than allowing people to suck your energy, emotion, time (which is the most precious thing in life as it is not replacable) and -in many cases- money to feel like one of the "in " crowd.
especially once you're out of high school!!! - the world is YOURS - MAKE CHOICES!!!

THANK YOU for saying that (about being better off on bww with actual intelligent people).
My parents are always pressuring me to go shopping, go to football games, go to movies etc. with school friends...who aren't really my friends at all. I HATE IT. I have so little free time, why should I spend it with the people I'm forced to tolerate all through the week?
(Star2b...you're not included in that statement. You know I love hanging out with you.)

before dedication, i'll answer the first question:
AMAZING - better than i remember....first off, house seats, center front orch - so close....the music (after listening to it all last night) was so much better and the crew was much tighter. i see where people have problems in their reviews and all, but still - even my mom liked it and she went in PISSED as HELL...
then i got autographs and the cast is so nice - tom hewitt has to be one of the nicest ppl. i actually felt bad for saying stephen Henderson is so bad b/c he was so nice....the cast (darren, melissa, (something) hoch and whoever played quincey) were very outgoing and friendly.....plus it was so organized - the stage door guy gave markers to the cast has they came out and the cast returned the markers when they finished signing...they all took pics, etc...
NOW JERRY
When I was little, my parents, my aunt and uncle, and I went to a Greek restaurant in the city (something with an A). I was eating all these "exotic" foods and all these ppl were surroudning me watching. When we left, Jerry Orback stopped us and said to me, "you probably won't remember this, but thank you: this was the first time i was able to eat in peace."
(the above story is from my parents as I was a baby)
A ew years ago my friend (or stalker) was in L&O and he recounted the story to Jerry who said he remembered me (i doubt he did)...

ah yes... Jerry
I've had the pleasure of seeing him live on broadway (42nd STREET) and working with him on L&O
he was the nicest guy ever and such a SUPER talent!!
I also have video of the TONY's the year CHICAGO was on Bway - doing "All I Care About Is Love" and stripping down to his boxers!!! *WOOT*
I've seen the FANTASTICKS several times as well (though not with him in it of course....)
did you guys know that CHICAGO got dissed the first time around?

Ellie, if you're being too immature, I am too. Part of me feels I shouldn't even explain myself, and just not show up at all tomorrow. But if they ask, then I'll tell them my excuse. In reality, I'll likely be chillin' with my homeys dawg brothas and sistas here. (Wow, even online I am too Asian to pull that off.)
You're right, Mama Fredi. Things just get worse when you're an adult, doesn't it? I hated high school, but sometimes I hate the invisibility of being an adult more. It's so surreal because a few of my friends in that circle are the same age as my mom when she got married and had me. (Late 20s.) I think even though intellectually and academically, we're equals, we're also in different places in life, so I feel like an outcast.
But anyway, let's discuss 42nd Street. I haven't seen it, but my parents saw the tour last winter and said it was fantastic. Didn't Jerry originate one of the roles?

yes - Jerry originated the lead guy - (the director/producer whose name I can't remember... help anyone?) the one who turns Peggy Sawyer into a star...
he actually had that EXTRA corny line and still made it work
(you're going out there a nobody but your gonna come back a STAR!)
he was terrific!!!

Fredi, whatdya mean by Chicago being dissed? As in not getting any Tony nods, or being a flop or a critical crapper?
BSo, how was the audience today? I've only heard horrible things about Dracula but I'm always sad when another show closes. But hopefully this immensely talented cast will move onto bigger and better things!
Fredi, what did you do on L&O?? (I think this was discussed a million pages back.)

Posted: 12/29/04 at 9:48pmMy memories of Jerry are movie-related. 'Beauty and the Beast' is my all time favorite Disney movie, and Lumiere was one of my favorite characters from the movie. Then there's 'Dirty Dancing' which is another one of my favorite movies, even if it was - technically - before my time.

Fredi, I love your logic on the whole highschool thing. I'd rather hang out on my laptop with witty, wonderful people like yourselves than go get high with dull and unimaginative folks.
Don't know much about Jerry Orbach, but I am sorry to hear about his death. So sudden...
