ooohhhh the election!!!
not enough bytes in the world to start me on that
however, i'm glad you're thinking about it....
maybe i'll prepare an off-line answer to that and post it later.
my favorite color?
don't know anymore - I wear much brighter colors than I used to... really into RED- (yeah!)
used to only wear black - I was pre-"goth" I guess
staying around the boards?
now that I've found them - I'll drop in when time allows - it really is fun.
solo album?
OH NO!!! Never wanted to be a recording artist. You NEVER get paid!!
and Charlie - don't mind about the screenplay thing - you ask really intelligent questions and I like that.

What is your screenplay about? Can you tell us about the story, characters, where your idea came from?
About the election- feel free to rant. We all do.

contact
cannot be taken literally...
don't forget - the story of RENT is a film that we are seeing after the fact.
Mark already shot it and cut it and what we are seeing is the finished product
contact is a "montage" you know what I mean?

yeah, i understand what you're saying now, but when i first heard the CR and saw the show i thought of it as literal.
*squeaks again*
I love getting to "hear" this stuff from your perspective. Thanks!

Alright. Thank you. So is the first act supposed to be all Mark's film too? He wasn't present for every event that night.

i watch shows. that's it. i run away in fear at the thought of performing in front of an audience.
I'm currently studying at NYU Tisch and working on a production of Pippin, but I want to be doing Broadway as soon as possible, even though, after reading "Making It On Broadway" and getting thoroughly depressed, I know the realities of the business. There's just nothing else I would want to do.
haha, not I. Just a happy little observer. My singing makes anyone remotely present desperately need earplugs. I do think I want to get invovled somehow, though; maybe through journalism.

fredi walker you are so cool! i just wanted ot say that.. anyways im not really "in the business" but i am the directors assistant/stage manager/technical assistant for my high school's productions :)
again thanks for answering all of the questions !!

Wow...now hearing you say RENT is Mark's film it seems so obvious, but somehow I had never thought of that. Thank you so much for sharing all this interesting stuff with us!

I hope to do something with technical theatre someday.
Welcome Fredi! Enjoy your time here - we all do.
And since Emcee is being a baby I must take matters into my own hands...
Wilkommen!
Bienvenue!
Welcome!!
Edit: spelling - those darn foreign languages!

If the stage version of Rent is mark's film, then doesn't "You Okay Honey" fit outside of that idiom, along with One Song Glory, Light My Candle and We're Okay? If I'm not mistaken, Mark is blocked into almost every other scene, but he, by nature of the scene, is outside for those pieces. Obviously it still works in the show, I just always wonder about those scenes. I guess one could chalk it up to the little flaws that make the show.
And about the election, trust me, I could go on and on as well! Sometime I would love to hear your opinions, though. Thanks for the compliment.

Hello and welcome!
I'm still catching up so I don't repeat any questions, but wanted to say hi!
not really in the biz either - been in hs shows - chorus and pick-a-little lady - did props, costumes, and stage managing for our fall drama, arts editor of my school paper, theater goer, love to sing and dance, just getting into acting, do a bit of songwriting
yeah - so really i like to try my hand at every aspect

Well, I'm trying to get into (professional) directing, with an emphasis on Musical Theatre. Hopefully all the networking I've been trying to make will be useful someday, but until then, I am working on establishing a music business (its complicated... but to simplify - a notation/copyist & recording studio) in Manhattan. Exciting, huh?!
So much for me, next person up to speak?

dudes - lighten up!
It's called "poetic license" - ya dig?
if the audience isn't willing to suspend it's sense of reality just a little bit - no play works - or film either...
I mean c'mon - RENT is an opera? Who do you know who sings their conversations?
----
as for my scripts -
most of my inspiration comes from my families' stories - so far I have 3 period pieces (an action/adventure, a western and a 40's musical) and one contemporary (a thriller)..
I won't reveal plots...ya'll know how it is...
to Shubert - I too am an NYU alum... and I too couldn't wait to get on B'way - many of my friends made "the line" early on in their careers - but, I'm glad it went the way it did for me.
it's good that you can't do anything else - that's the only way you'll make it... if you can do something else and be happy - eventually you will because this life is extremely difficult and you must be all in!
To answer an earlier question - JOANNE will always be my favorite role - no matter what else I ever do.
fwb
ps - hoooray for those of you who just love theatre and come to see those of us who just love to do theatre.
Aww Emcee you are NOT useless, just shy at the moment. And see I'm not good at your job, i had to edit for spelling (there are probably still more there.)

We know about poetic license, Fredi, we just weren't sure.
Are your scripts going to be produced?
hahaha, TGIF? My "job" is spelling? And yup.... just shy.

"poetic license"
true that. i have to say that to myself everytime i watch a movie/see a show... i take EVERYTHING too literally. one of my many faults.
"JOANNE will always be my favorite role - no matter what else I ever do."
yay.

how cool
sound like there are some budding producers out there!!!!
Charlie - great idea - after all it's show BIZ not show ART and if you can get fiscal freedom early on - you'll be in a much better position to pick and chose your projects and actually make "art".
all experience - whether on or back stage - is useful.
Theatre (and film) are collaborative arts and every job is needed to make it work... never belittle your contribution to the process
