aaand now i stop multitasking and go studying as the conversation moves towards horror movies...
my friends and i watched red dragon. well, *i* didn't watch it. i got through 10 minutes before i left the room and waited for it to end. so i guess i'm a little scaredy cat that jumps at things that creek in the dark...
I dont listen to the critics.. I find that I often dont agree with them.. If it looks good I try to see it.. If it doesn't I wait for video.. Go Netflix!!

yup classical classics
for my final in english in my senior year, i did my media report on Horror Movies and how their subject matter has been changing
I disagree with critics a lot too... its just not something I would be motivated to see, at least not without good word of mouth. I'm VERY picky with horror movies, and tend to favor old ones.
I couldn't stand The Birds, though. I hate ambiguous endings.
Fav Hitchcocks:
Strangers on a Train
Dial M
Rear Window
The Man WHo Knew Too Much
The Trouble With Harry
Vertigo
Pyscho
Brilliant stuff that puts ALL the gorefests to shame

star2b - JAWS is a classic - i never really thought of it as a "horror" film though... guess it could be
i ususally read reviews AFTER i've seen something - just to see if i agree with what they had to say...
but the majority of the american (and I guess worldwide) audience doesn't care what review say - they go to whatever looks good to them...
that's actually good news for those of us trying to get stuff made - used to be the critics could make or break you - now it's just up to the b/o
of course, bad reviews can still hurt theatre a lot - less people are willing to risk up to $100 per seat for a badly reviewed show...

the reviews killed Dracula...more than anything
Oh, Jaws. One of my favorites. The best scene, though, is the USS Indianapolis story.
Show me the way to go home...bum bum...

I've never seen Jaws... maybe I'll rent it next week for my end of finals celebration. Either that or a movie musical... suggestions?
I used to flat out refuse to go on the ride at Universal cuz it scared me so. I went on it recently and saw the water tracks, thus killing that fear.
It was listed in the Horror section of Blockbuster, I'm guessing cuz of the blood (although if you look at some of the deleted scenes...woah!)
I thought to my silly self "Oh well, it's old and it's PG. How scary could it be"
I screamed out loud at least three times while watching it and nearly wet myself during the scene where Dryfuss is checking out the boat
It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, the Ben Gardner scene filmed in the editor's pool! Too freaky. I adore Robert Shaw in it. His little sea chanties make the movie.
