I'm applying to several arts schools and a couple of liberal arts. I'm applying to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Western Washington University(working on that essay), AMDA, LAMDA, and Evergreen State College(dad's idea).
Tickets are pretty expensive from Vancouver - about $730 round trip cheapest, although that's for a direct flight, which is pretty good. Most of the connections are in Canada, but if I get a stop-over in NYC, you can bet I'll take advantage of it! (And I'll let you take me ou-ut tonight!)
How much is it from NYC? How did you like London? The first thing everyone tells me is it's SO expensive because of the currency.

Tiff, a friend and i were thinking about going over to London to see Ewan in G&D. her mom is in the military, and could get a leave in London for a week or so to chaperone us, and we could probably stay in a hostel for cheap or something. do you know how long Ewan is in it?
Need the letters of rec badly though and my favorite teacher that I have right now is too busy and I completely understand.
Congratulations on being a legend, b_s_t!!
It's almost sad that you've been on here longer and more frequently than Fredi, yet she has you beat by a substantial amount. (I won't say who's sadder, in that respect.)
YAY!!!

tiff - i loved london for the most part - but it is terribly expensive...
TERRIBLY - comparable to NYC and then some because of the exchange.
but theatre there is GREAT and shopping there is REALLY GREAT!!!
you must go to the big flea market at Camden Lock...
if you have money - TAKE ALL OF IT!!!
If you don't THEN DON'T TAKE ANY!!!
no in between there - it's better to have no money and just look than to have a little bit and have to make choices!!!!
tix from NYC can be as little as $99 on red-eyes and the like...
it's just getting from there to here that could be expensive..

You're kidding! $99? Wow!
Everyone tells me to not bother trying to save any money in London because it'll never work. I've heard all these horror stories of $50 plates of pasta, and disgusting pub food. But I've heard the shopping, the sites and the theatre are fantastic. I have a feeling I'll be one of those look, don't touch people. (At least when it comes to buying things. )
When did you go there? How long ago were you living in Paris?
etheb - I'm not sure, I'll look it up for you.

i went everywhere through work...
one of the perks of being in theatre...
i spent my early career in Europe all over...
i lived in France in 1988/89? or maybe it was 86/87?
yeah - had to be - i did my first equity show in 88....
Totally random train of thought, but weird my dad is watching The Birdcage.
True, Staci, but you mostly go on this thread, don't you?
Fredi, what did you do in France? Was that when you were in wardrobe? I'm so excited about France - I'm going to Paris, Normandy, Brittany and the Loire Valley. WHEE!

yea, well saw it last night...
Ok, so MAry came out and someone next to me actually asked how long she'd be with the show.
She got a very stern look on her face and said, "My contract is good until April, but they may extend in. But don't hold your breath." Then she said something about lack of loyalty - i dunno. Right now, there are only 4 of the originals left in the show - she is the only original lead left. She seemes a little bummed out like that. But I got a picture with her, so it was all good.
She said something interesting, like the advice you give to us. She was talking about a role she auditioned for and was turned down for someone else. She said, "This is a business in which mediocrity reigns. Talent doesn't really mean much."
