ok this is threadjacking totally.. but i need help with this!. my friend's mom mysteriously decided to pick up and move with him to California to a tennis academy over winter break. so now, hes at this tennis academy (he's good at tennis ... plays competitively) - and he decided that he's training to be a pro tennis player. hes only going to school for 6 hours a week. So, I asked him about college and how thats going to work out- and he said that he won't let himself think about going to college because if he thinks about college , then he'll be distracted from his goal of playing pro tennis ("offering himself another option, when really there should be no other option").. so I'm on the phone with this kid right now , and I'm trying to explain to him that just throwing his education down the drain is a baaad idea.. what do I say to him??? How do you explain to someone the importance of an education and the risk of counting on "making it" in a business where its not so easy to 'make it"?

NO!! NTG, ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THE MULLET.
Adam is a very pretty human being, but the mullet ruins it. No one can look good in one though, it isn't his fault.
Oh dear lord, no Fredi no!!!
our school already got a FAX from the President, I think the trustees would pass out and die if he actually came to our school
And I'd slit my wrists
I have it to make you laugh, not weak in the knees!

Dear God,
Not to question your infinite wisdom, but...
WHY? Why did 70's fashion have to COME BACK?
Ok, wow...that was a total fangirl moment...forgive me all....
::smacks self over head::
Don't worry Fredi, he looked normal at the end of the film
And why is it randomly there for half the movie?
The blue hair was worse though...

Fredi, I don't know. Go find Adam and smack him, will you?
star, that is not the answer to your problems. Just run away to NYC and come live in Emcee's dumpster with me.
You know, they're supposed to get all pretty and artificial for the competition. Mullets are not competition material!
Yeah, me and nia are going dumpster diving

refrain -
unfortunately you're seeking advice from the wrong people..
we're all about living our dreams against all odds here...
welcome to life in the theatre!
me - i'd tell him that if it's his passion - to go for it while he's young enough to play - colleges will always be there...
Nia, scary as it was...I highly doubt it was his choice...
True, Emcee...quite true...I wanted more of them and less of SoR during that scene though...I got booed in the movie theatre cuz I was cheering against SoR.
I think I was the only person in the movie who was glad they won.... after I squealed "OMG THE PANTS!"
Hmmm, Jack Black with a bunch of whiney rich kids who remind me of most of the people I've had to put up with my whole schooling or Adam

Refrain, ask him what he will do after he has finished his pro career?
Remind him how embaressing it would be to have to go BACK to school when he is older, versus finishing it now.
Tell him that education is something that will enhance his entire life, and will be worth it hundred-fold when his tennis days are done and gone.
Generally the people who have truly long, great, or powerful careers (in anything) have been educated, or seek education once they can.
Ha, tell him that it is a no brainer question, and if he chooses to give up a good education he obviously has no brain. Ha, don't do that, but I thought it was funny. (This is what happens to my sense of humor when I am writing a history paper...downhill downhill downhill)
