I loooovvveedd this soap opera. Does anyone know why it was cancelled? Was it because it started to become science fiction like? Anyways, always watched the show.

No one knows why, but some people think that it was due to the fact that the show was nominated for Best Daytime Drama and lost at the Daytime Emmy Awards to As the World Turns.

It's because the ratings were worse than Loving/The City, which was worse than the ratings for Ryan's Hope.
Port Charles was only good for about 18 months, when it was an ER rip off with an emphasis on the interns.

Listen You Are Less Than Three Broadway, I loved the show for the first year or so, when it was an ER rip off that highlighted the new group of interns.
As I said, it was cancelled because its ratings were worse than the show it replaced (though The City was absolute genius, in my opinion) which in turn got worse ratings than the low rated show IT replaced.

I didn't like the show as a whole, but I was obsessed with the Matt/Ellen story (Mitch Longley/Debbie Morgan). But only with the original Ellen...I hated her recast.
Mitch Longley continues to be one of my favorite actors, although he's hard to find. There's not a lot of call for parapalegic actors....which is unfortunate.

I agree about Matt and started to lose interest when he was no longer on the show. Although I missed his official exit. I have no idea where he went.
RobbO, I do have odd viewing habits. I generally think life is too short for hour-long soap operas, so I drift naturally to a show that's short and sweet.
Unless it's on TeleMundo. I think US TV should try soap operas with beginnings, middles and ends.

He's on Las Vegas, working in the security room.
I followed Kevin and Lucy to PC and mainly watched it for their antics.
I forgot all about The City. I vaguely remember serial murders happening.
