The Super Bowl

Are any of you fans? I'm a huge Patriots fan and I predict a blowout. Pats over the Cats.

How many of us care about the Super Bowl? Any predictions? I'm told its against the laws of nature to be a fan of Bway and football. Any other "freaks of nature" out there?

re: The Super Bowl

I think this is what we call an "Off Topic" thread...unless the players break out into song...
Call it a regime change...

re: The Super Bowl

I'm more a Saturday football fan but I don't expect a blowout this Sunday. Assuming both teams play to their own level it should be a tight, defensive game, low scoring all the way.

I'm leaning toward Carolina. I think they have a tougher defense (not necessarily a *better* defense, just a tougher one.)

re: re: The Super Bowl

I love me a super bowl of Shredded Wheat, but why are we talking about cereal on the main board, it should be OT.
PEACE.

I'll have to tape it (for commercials and halftime show) cuz I'll be at the Ars Nova watching Max.

The Super Bowl

You know what peeps? I never noticed we had an off topic board. I have this bookmarked and I never though of checking. Sorry ya'll.

Just to make things legit though...I was in musical in HS that was all about a college football team. I can't, for the life of me, remember the title. Anyway...I played the second string running back that won the big game and got all the honnies. I loved that part. Anyway...we actually got about a dozen of our football players to be extras. They sang a chorus song and did a kickline. Man was it funny. So there we go...singing and dancing football players!

i don't see a blowout, but the belichick is a mad genius who has had an extra week to prepare for a vanilla offense and a mad dog defense. pats by 4.

re: re: the super bowl

We are all aware of the off-topic board. Rather than point out the presence of the off-topic board, why not discuss the topic as needed and wait for the mods to move the topic when they notice it's in the wrong place? It's not like the original poster can move it there at their own behest.

re: the super bowl

I'm not a football fan, and won't be watching, but DoubleDown11, I wish you could remember the name of that show you did in high school. It sounds like a hoot, and if it were only vaguely good would be a great show for high schools to do. Especially if the football players would cooperate. Looking back, I think the team from my school would have been too uptight. Would love to ask them. re: the super bowl A long time to the next "zero" year though, and we might all be dead by then.

the super bowl

Sunfish...
I figured it out...it was "Good News".

I found this write up on it:
"Good News!" premiered on Broadway in 1927, the same year as Show Boat, helping to mark the rebirth of the musical comedy which had fallen out of fashion thanks to the popularity of the musical revues that were the rage in the '20s. Written by the team of B.G. DeSylva, Lew Brown, Ray Henderson, and Frank Mandel, the show immediately became one of the musical theatre successes of that decade, in large part because of its hit songs including "Button Up Your Overcoat," "The Varsity Drag," "The Best Things in Life Are Free," "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" and "You're the Cream in My Coffee."

The great thing is that the football players loved doing it. They had a great time and of course it brought in the whole school and filled all the seats. These guys were champions that year but they still participated in the show. It was great.

re: the super bowl

Wow, not many football fans out there. I am not a fan of either of these teams, but am still going to watch it. I'm from Washington so I follow them (Joe Gibbs will save us!!). I want Carolina to win, I had their defense on my Fantasy Football team, plus my brother wants the Pats to win so it makes it more fun to root against someone.

re: the super bowl

I don't follow women's field hockey so I'm not at interetsed...isn't that what the superbowl is?

the super bowl

For all of us who care...predictions?

Pats 23-13
I think it'll be close for a bit but after that it'll be all Patriots.

GO PATRIOTS!!! The NEW Dynasty in the NFL (if we win, that is)!

re: the super bowl

I already made a wager with my brother. Carolina by 3. I'm thinking 20-17.

re: re: the super bowl

I'm a Colts fan, so I want Carolina to win. (I know it was our own fault we lost but still, I have to be bitter to support my team. We're allowed to complain about them, but we get mad if you complain and aren't a Colts fan.re: re: the super bowl)
My avatar is a reminder to myself. I need lots of reminders...

re: re: re: the super bowl

I don't care about football but I do watch the half time show...anyone know who's performing this year??
#24

re: re: re: re: the super bowl

Pats 28-20. I think it'll be fairly close in the first half and then the Pats will stampede in the second half.
