I wonder what part O Toole plays
This series sort of reminds me of The Sopranos set in old England. Will Henry the 8 be more like what we normally are used to next season?
I cannot wait for when the Anne Boylen character to start givy henry a pain in the arse & when she literally loses her head over him

It should be interesting seeing their relationship/marriage dissolve

This may be a bit naieve, but can someone please explain to me what the hell was going on at the beginning of the last episode? I mean, I know what he was doing, but why? and why in front of that guy?
And what happend at the end? Why did he look mad? I'm so confused.

O'Toole is playing Pope John Paul III:
"O'Toole, an eight-time Oscar nominee for films such as "Lawrence of Arabia," "The Lion in Winter" and last year's "Venus," will play Pope Paul III in "The Tudors," which films in his native Ireland. "As an Irishman, I am delighted to be working on an Irish production, filming in Ireland," he says.
The conflict between the Pope and Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) will be front and center next season. The church will stop Henry from marrying Anne Boleyn (Natalie Dormer). After Henry secretly weds Ann and invalidates his marriage to Katherine (Maria Doyle Kennedy), the pope moves to excommunicate him."

Posted: 6/10/07 at 3:45amThe Henry VIII you're more used to? The historical Henry at this point in his life was considered to be very athletic and attractive and charming. The Henry of the portraits was much later in his life but in his youth he was considered to be quite the catch (though obviously as with everything else television does, The Tudors takes liberties and goes to the extremes with the whole hot Henry VIII thing.)

Cats, in response to your question above...
(How can I discuss this delicately, without being offensive?)
Denying Henry "full access to completion" was apparently the way Anne kept him interested (at least, according to historians). I think she did everything but allow him that treasure.
And he gets frustrated.

Posted: 7/2/07 at 12:52pmAs a Tudor enthusiast who can't get enough of Henry and his six wives, this show is only semi-accurate, but enjoyable nonetheless. Glad it's been renewed, but I can only hope that they get most everything correct. Updated On: 7/2/07 at 12:52 PM

so it says there was a post today, but I don't see it.
anyway, i don't get Showtime so i can't watch the show, but the woman on the posters that are all over NYC (the one that Henry has it hand on her throat or something) looks EXACTLY like Juliet Landau (Drusilla from Buffy?Angel), i know its not her but she looks JUST LIKE HER in that picture.
The poster
Juliet (whom i can't find any good pictures of her looking fierce)
