re: The USA beats Honduras to qualify for the 2010 World Cup

I am a huge soccer fan, and while I'm excited that we've qualified, I'm upset about the fact that last night's game wasn't televised. US Soccer messed up negotiations for the television rights, and the game wound up on closed circuit.

In addition, our success in our region (North & Central America, Carribean) masks that fact that our coaching and administration is incompetent.

US soccer player Charlie Davies was seriously injured in a car accident outside DC early this morning. Davies was a passenger in the car, and sustained multiple broken bones, some of which required titanium rods to repair. He also sustained internal injuries. He has come through hours of surgery, and is in serious but stable condition. Sadly, another passenger in the car was killed.

The rest of the US Soccer team has to take on Costa Rica tomorrow night.
