I saw this last night, and was blown away. Joan Allen is simply AMAZING, and I was surprised how I was drawn into the movie, and the ending totally surprised me. I would strongly suggest this movie to anyone

from the IMDB site:

Once every so often a movie comes along that hits all the right notes with its audience. It has just the right amount of each element that makes a great film and then kicks it up a notch with more.

Mike Binder has done all this with his new film, The Upside of Anger. Upside of Anger opens at a scene from the end of a movie; a scene that stays in the audience's mind, making us trying to guess its cause all the way through the movie. We meet Terry Wolfmeyer, a middle aged woman with four daughters who is trying to keep their and her own life in balance. Terry's husband has just recently left the family causing Terry to spiral into alcohol and bitterness. Along comes Denny Davies, an ex-baseball player, current radio show host, and Terry's neighbor. He too, is a fan of the drink, and strikes a friendship with Terry along with a fatherly role for her daughters. At its root, it's Terry's story about how she deals with the continuous growing of her relationships, of her daughters, and of herself.

I agree 10000000% about Joan Allen and I hope she isn't forgotten when the awards are handed out. My favorite favorite moment of hers was when Kevin Costner asks her if she wants a drink and she says "you know me pretty well, what do you think?". The delivery of that line was so perfect.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Am I nuts? I watched the whole thing going "THIS is what everyone is squawking about?" It's a Lifetime movie! And--I love her, BTW--Joan Allen was....all right. Nothing brilliant.

No worries, it's a good movie and I actually didn't mind that you started a new thread on it. Just wanted to show you that it was discussed before in case you wanted to read other peoples' comments. I hope Joan gets an oscar for it.

It's one of the best movies I've seen all year. It's hilarious and touching as well. A lot of people were disappointed by the... events in the third act, but I thought it was a brilliant decision on the writer's part, and absolutely necessary.

As for Joan Allen... I don't understand how you could not love her work in this. She's brilliant. If any female performance is going to top her this year, they'd better be damn good.

I saw this movie back in Dallas and loved it. Joan Allen has always been my favorite female actor.. She plays a great bitch.

The "third act" of a movie means when the plot is winding down. I'm referring to the part when...

(POSSIBLE SPOILER!)

She discovers what's in the backyard...

I thought it was pretty good until the end. Just kind of odd. I thought the acting was impeccable, but the plot left a lot to be desired

***SPOILERS***

Where was the baby of the oldest girl? and why would they not mention her having the kid at all. And you mean to tell me that this man was missing for 2 or more years and no one looked for him? IRS? no one?

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
