I guess you're right Papa. And by murdering her, he wouldn't have to pay for a divorce lawyer, not to mention alimony or child support. Oh well... f*ck him! I've got to go make a meatloaf.
Purely speculation, but my idea is they live in a tight-knit community, they have this perceived perfect marriage and everyone knows everyone. If he leaves Lacy, he gets the title of duplicitous mommy/baby-leaving bastard. If Lacy&Conner disappear...he doesn't have to face public scorn. (Obviously that didn't turn out, but...)
I think that would be his motive. Killing someone is easier than dealing with the public repercussions of leaving them. At least in his mind.
tiff, you sound like you've given this whole killing vs. leaving a lot of thought. anything we need to know? *smiling and backing away slowly*
*evil eye twitch* Well, the MacDonald Triad says the 3 indicators of future psychopathy are childhood bedwetting, firestarting and torture to small animals. How many people can attest to that? lol
Plus when I can't sleep I plan the perfect murder. seriously. Not to anyone in particular, I just analyze stuff way too much.
I was a bed-wetter, and when I was five I started a fire in the kitchen of my house. But I've never tortured small animals. (do bugs count?) Also, I'm fascinated with serial killers. Sometimes I find myself relating to how and why a person could get to the point of wanting to kill someone. Do you think I have anything to worry about???
Here in Modesto, we are celebrating. However, it's sad that this happened in the first place. So tragic. My students had Laci as a substitute a few years ago and remember her. They still can't understand how something bad could have happened to her and her baby.
Bad things happen to nice people (and vice versa) every day.
There's something strangely compelling about serial killers. I've done a few terms papers on Jeffery Dahmer, who satisfied all of MacDonald's Triad (and then some!). You should check out www.crimelibrary.com when you're feeling particularly bored - there's a lot of information on there.
Thanks for the tip tiff. I will. I've always been morbidly fascinated with serial killers. I've read many books on the subject and I own just about every serial killer movie out there.
Do you own Dahmer, Son of Sam and Texas Chainsaw? (The original?) Not too bad. Texas Chainsaw's based on Ed Gein(s?), who's story is actually much more ****ed up than the movie paints it out to be.
Edit: I mean *Summer* of Sam.
Yes. Yes. and Yes. Well actually, I own the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Dahmer, and Spike Lee's Summer of Sam. I don't own Son of Sam. I also own The Ted Bundy Story, among others. I always found him interesting. Some of my favorites are ficticious. Like Seven, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Silence of the Lambs, Copycat, American Psycho, etc...
Sorry to bump, but I was giving some thought last night to what you were saying earlier about why Scott was charged with 1st degree murder. (During Bridget Jones' Diary. Nice.) I think there actually was physical evidence that suggested it was premeditated, because (correct me if I'm wrong) Laci's body was weighted down with cement blocks, which I believe the prosecution established was consistent with the cement mix that Scott had recently purchased. I don't remember the reasons Scott gave but I think it had something to do with making an anchor for his boat or something.
That's pretty good evidence of premeditation.
