I saw it this afternoon. Very underwhelmed. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were great, but that was about it. It got such great reviews, though. It felt very tedious for only being 90 minutes long. What are your thoughts?

The movie was pretty good. Like you said, it had some terrific performances, especially from Mos Def and Kevin Bacon. Bacon should have gotten much more Oscar buzz.

My favorite scene was with Walter and the little girl on the bench. It defined the movie for me.

That was a great scene. Like I said, the acting was fantastic. I just didn't really enjoy the movie overall.

It was alright. I was never one for Kevin Bacon, but he is fantastic in this movie. The whole movie was kind of just...."Eh."

Oh, I definitely agree about the movie. It didn't really take off until it was too late (i.e. the bench scene).

However, I have to give the director credit for trying her best with the material. Updated On: 2/12/05 at 07:14 PM

I saw it a few weeks ago, and liked the acting, but the ending sucked.

Yeah, it ends so...unresolved.

I wasn't sure what to do with the ending. I'm all for ambiguity, but I don't like it when films end in the middle of nowhere. They spend an hour and a half developing Walter's character and his problems, then the credits roll.

I like to think that he overcame it, but my common sense is telling me that it's not likely.

My first cousin, Brian A. Kates edited this film as well (he also edited Lackawanna Blues, see other thread) ... I saw a rough cut of the film last year and found it , well, intense to say the least. But i havent seen it since its been released in theaters.

But even if you were underwhelmed by the movie, i hope you were overwhelmed by the editing! re: The Woodsman

LOL. It's funny you mention that. I thought the editing was very smooth.

The editing of LACKAWANNA BLUES was pure perfection, as was the whole film.
