Posted: 4/6/04 at 2:20pmHow embarrassing is this? When "Miss Joe" asked us to hold up our drawings and describe them so that we could have cookies and milk, first she asked Suzie: "what's YOUR Drawing, Suzie?" "its a kitty cat". "Very good. And what's yours Johnny?" "It's a firetruck!" "Very good. And what's your's little Redhot (protecting myself here)..."Its my greyhaired old mother and my sweaty dad" GOD'S TRUTH. To this day I picture my mother in the green room with all the others watching it on the monitor - having to be held back from killing me...LOL!

Posted: 4/6/04 at 4:12pmUh huh, uh huh. A steelworker, you say? Would you say he was more of a hairy steelworker or more of a smooth one? And would the bulging muscles have freckles on them, would you say? And is it true what the Simpsons told us about steelworkers? That they work hard and they play hard [cue: "Everybody Dance Now!"]?

Posted: 4/6/04 at 4:15pmok Namo - if I start answering your questions they way you've put them, it might start sounding a bit like I had a crush on my father - which I didn't. I didn't particularly find him sexy. But my Boyfriend finds ME sexy, and I look like my dad - so there must be SOMETHING there...

Oh man!! Do I ever remember ZOOM!!! That was my absolute FAVORITE show. Funny thing, though, NONE of the kids in my school would admit to watching it, even though they all went around speaking Ubbi Dubbi and doing that arm thing.
I've watched the new ZOOM just out of curiosity and it's nowhere like the one we all (obviously) watched and loved.
My favorite ZOOMers were Neil, Danny, Maura, Lori... oh OK, all of them!!!
Oh, and for the poster who wanted a ZOOMcard of his favorite ZOOMer but didn't get it.... What I used to do is write in for the ZOOM card and ask for a specific ZOOMer. They would always send me the one I asked for, even if I didn't send a SASE (I was lucky if I could get ONE stamp out of my mother at a time, no less 2!!)
Anyway, cool to reminisce about the good old ZOOM days!!!

Posted: 4/6/04 at 5:08pmI have a pal who was a Zoom kid. He's about 37 now and has appeared in a B'way show, lots of regional stuff and done some TV. He was even a five day winner on Hollywood Squares. His name is John and he rode his skateboard when he said his name--and did the "dashiki" art project--because that's what they wore at his afro-centric grade school in Boston. He is a great guy! ps. I used to try to do the "I'm Bernadette" arm thing--and I think after 30 years I've finally mastered it!

Posted: 4/6/04 at 6:52pmI have a Zoom story: when I first started dating my boyfriend about a thousand years ago, he told me he was a Zoom kid. He was joking, but he forgot to tell me that he was only kidding. He was going to let me believe it for a bit, but I guess he got distracted. So I dated him for a couple of weeks really thinking he was a Zoomer until one day I brought it up and he was like, "oh my God, I was just kidding! I never told you I was just joking??" I was crushed, but kept dating him and now 13 years later I still secretly wish he could teach me that damn language.
