The official "The Nanny" love thread!

I LOVE this show! I watched it when it was first aired, but I recently rediscovered it and find myself cracking up constantly while watching it. Everything about it, from the theme song to the cast to the Broadway connections, just works!
I can't possibly be the only one who loves this show, so express your love here!

Speak of the devil! We just mentioned this on the av thread.

I too love this show. Apart from Fran, my other fave characters are Sylvia, Yetta, and sometimes Val. But I couldn't stand Niles a lot of the time.

My all-time fave scene is when Fran tells her mom she's giving up on men and Sylvia chases her all the way from Queens to Manhattan, in her robe and slippers no less. XD

I was going to list my favorite characters, but then I realized the list would include pretty much the whole cast! (Minus the children, of course.)

The episode with Tyne Daly as a fellow maid who retires was on just last week, and the Gypsy references were HILARIOUS.

I love this show. What a strong cast. I can still watch the reruns over and over and over again.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Lol, I didn't see the other thread until after I made this one, but both posts were inspired by the NickAtNite marathons.
My favorite characters are probably Sylvia and Yetta, though I honestly love all of them (even the random cameos). Those two characters just happen to have the funniest scene-stealing moments.

re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

I spend my nights watching this on nick at nite in bed with my cat, and I am not ashamed! and there were days when I was in school when I would fake sick just so I could stay home and watch a marathon of the nanny.... oops. :X

Scott- where is the love for Gracie?!

re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

Just last year, I would watch Golden Girls for an hour and then The Nanny for an hour on lifetime every night.

Yetta was one of my teachers in college.

The woman playing her daughter is....

Well, I never would work with her again.

Unless, of course, that's part of your fantasy.

Not mine, mind you, but I don't judge re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

I'm assuming there's a helluva dresser tale just dying to be told . . .

"Meanwhile.."

I pretty much can't live without reruns of this show. One of my all-time favorite TV shows.

I actually have an episode on right now, the one where they edit the wedding video and added Aunt Freida (Lainie Kazan) singing "I Remember You." I've seen this episode at least 5 times. It is still good.

One of my best friends is obsessed with "The Nanny." I used to watch it all the time when it was on Lifetime. I remember one summer all I watched in the mornings were The Golden Girls and The Nanny. These days, I sometimes catch an episode or two on Nick-At-Nite. It's one of those shows that you never get tired of watching & it's always hilarious.

Q, I totally agree. so hot.

I also loved how they had Maxwell Caulfield on the show as the brother. Such a hot guy too.

Caulfield played his former college buddy who needed a loan. His brother was played by Harry Van Gorkum, who was also hot.

I concur about Charles! *drool*

Count me in as one who LOVES this show! I always loved Fran and Charles I knew from Days of Our Lives. I knew Daniel from Another World. Fran and Charles had so much chemistry on this show but when she did the other show on the CW where Charles played her ex-husband- there was no chemistry! You can really tell that Fran was trying to channel Lucille Ball in many of her episodes!

I love this show. I never noticed it much when I was younger, but now watching the reruns I'm slightly confused as to why Maxwell was always in compition with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Webber is a composer and Mr. Sheffield was a producer. Why didn't he just produce an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical? It would have made more sense if Maxwell was in compition with Cameron Mackintosh who had produced Cats, Phantom, Les Miz and Miss Saigon, but I guess most people would know Webber over Mackintosh.

re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

^^^I think it's because Maxwell passed on producing Cats. Then again, most people do know Webber more than Mackintosh.

re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

Maxwell passing on Cats was a running joke throughout the show.

I don't remember Daniel on Another World though I was only 2 when he was on.

where is the love for Gracie

You know, she did a pretty good job in the Lucie biopic from a few years back.

re: The official 'The Nanny' love thread!

Maxwell passed on Cats and hair, although hair has nothing to do with ALW. I just found that one episode funny where C.C. was like " CATS AND HAIR?!"

yep, I'm easily amused.
