Now Starbucks doesn't want to deal with Manhattan's skyrocketing rents

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

How ironic. One of the businesses that drove the rents up is now feeling its effects.

I'm surprised that some of these big chains don't buy the buildings they are in. Is it cheaper to rent when you are in the location for 20 years?

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I wonder how this affects people across categories of #Race?

I went to Starbucks this morning and was upset that they didn't want to get into a heated discussion on race relations with me. I mean, I paid my $3 for my Venti coffee like everyone else. Am I not WHITE enough to be asked about my thoughts?!

Are the discussions supposed to be heated? I thought they were supposed to be casual and low-impact because we're better than that.

Did they create a sample script of what a low-impact conversation about race would look like?

Oh, I wasn't sure. Since discussions about race relations with people you don't know usually are pretty casual.

HUH. Why would the present owners sell when that are basically milking a cash cow? ( and if SB goes, the owners might have to wait for a new tenant and take a tax write off to reduce other income, sooner or later SOMEbody will fill the space).
