which is the best CUNY school for theater?

I know Hunter College offers Theatre as a major, although I hear they don't require an audition, so I'm not sure how good it is...

It's not a CUNY school but a SUNY school. SUNY Purchase has a great theater program, only drama though, no musical theater. It's a 40 minute train ride into the city.

I know that Queens College did a pretty mean version of the Greek tragedy Electra, two years ago. Have no clue how their theatre department is. I can clue you in once I learn more about it. (I'm taking my college now class there.)
