Stephen Lynch can rot in Hell. Nothing funny about this song or anyone who would embrace such a thought.
The people who are participating in the Special Olympics Games, despite the crappy hand that life has dealt them, are filled with more grace, courage and humanity than anyone who would write this crap could ever begin to imagine. Or anyone who would think it was funny.
Watch them run, watch them fall,
Watch them try to catch a ball, olympics
At the special olympics.
Watch them laugh, watch them drool,
Watch them fall into the pool, that's diving.
At the special olympics.
And I know full well, that I will burn in hell,
But those guys playing wheelchair basketball gotta be about the funniest freakin' thing I've ever seen in my life,
At the special olympics.
[spoken]
Verse Two
[singing]
Kid with downs wins the race, even though he stood in place, olympics.
At the special...(laughter)olympics.
'Round his neck, gold medals hung.
Resting on his giant tongue, olympics.
Special olympics.
But I kid when I sing, cause these games are a beautiful thing.
Okay, really, I'm just avoiding karma, 'cus i know my kids could be born blind, crippled, semi-retarded and i'll have to spend all of my time...
at the special olympics.

I realize it's a terrible thing to laugh at. I understand that. I feel guilty everytime I hear it.
But, I'm not so much as laughing at them, because he never says anything about a certain disease. And had he said anything about Asperger syndrome (which I have) or any other for that matter, that would have pissed me off. The only time he ever said anything about a certain disease was "Kid with downs wins the race/ Even though he stood in place"
But even then, I realize it's cruel. And I would never laugh at an actual disease, because that's the worse you can do.

I don't think that song is remotely funny, but horribly, this picture made me laugh (and then hate myself for it):
When I saw this picture, it was captioned as "Billy Black," which I didn't get until later when I read those awful Twilight books. He's a paralyzed guy from a clan of werewolves.

ifuweregay, you sound like an idiot.
There is so much more to the challenges that the participants in the Special Olympics face than having a 'disease'.
Not funny.
Ever.

NYadgal, I know what special need kids face, ok? I have done alot of research on it. And I feel terrible for laughing at the song, but when I'm depressed I always go to the song and it makes me laugh, then I feel terrible once more.
I am considering deleting the song off my ipod.
But Stephen Lynch doesn't care about what most people say. I mean he writes songs such as Craig Christ (Which I refuse to listen to), Beelz (The devil), She Gotta Smile (Big Fat Friend), Little Tiny Mustache (I think you're A Nazi), Special Ed, and, this is the worst one which I will not listen to and I have lost some respect for him after, Waiting (For my AIDS test to come back). That one I will NOT listen to, EVER! If he does it when I see him live, I'm going on a bathroom break.
So, I too have my limits.

I know what special kids face, too.
If you REALLY knew what they faced you would NOT think anything about that song was funny.
Honestly, there has to be something else that can cheer you up?!

Yeah, I'm obsessed with Monty Python, but I've been offended by a few of their less PC skits and things before. But I kind of draw the line at Stephen Lynch-- I just can't respect him. I don't think I would ever go see him life.
Oh, one thing I feel bad for laughing at is, when a lady walks out of the bathroom with the bottom of her dress caught in the waistband of her pantyhose. I usually let the person know before they make it too far in public, but I have to try so hard not to laugh! I know karma will catch up with me one day, and that'll happen to me...

Who is that person who made fun of my asperger syndrome? Hmmm. Who. Was it NYadgal? Yes!
You made fun of my asperger syndrome back in august when papa was doing it. Remember?

I did no such thing.
Never in my life have I made fun of any disease or syndrome.
Now, that's enough.
Let's let this horrible thread just drop off the page.

I don’t even know the song you are talking about, and have no desire to hear it.
But after reading the lyrics, it just got me thinking about George95 and his claim to work with the Special Olympics and that, as he put it, found it perfectly respectable to call someone ‘retarded’.
That’s why I mention him…
For someone who claims to be a school teacher and then he posts things like that AND this for his av:
I’m worried.
