I'd also recommend Peep Show if you get the chance, it's unexpectedly fun and funny! Do Phantom as well - 100 minutes and nothing you really care about is missing. Plus the visuals are simply stunning and the chandelier must be seen to be believed. Le Reve is a must see, it's nonstop action, sexy, funny and in my sacrilege opinion, a tiny bit better than "O". (Both should be seen, though.)
Mystere I saw for the first time last month and although it's not as technologically advanced as some of the old shows, it was quite entertaining and a beautiful show to watch. KA is underrated because it's not as flashy and upbeat as the other shows, and the acrobatics involved interaction with the moving stage, but it's an unbelievable feat of technology.
Avoid Viva Elvis, it's experiencing a lot of growing pains. And supposedly, Criss Angel's show is a piece of crap.
The only thing I always do when I go, and it's NOT for the faint of heart, is do two shows per night, as most schedules will allow for an hour to get from one property to another. I've managed to do eight shows in four nights, twice, but not without a lot of planning.
A lot of the locals also talk about Town Square, a mall just south of the Strip, as a favorite place to go. I've also heard wonderful things about the Springs Preserve.
By the way, I never do the public transportation when I'm there. The lines are ridiculous and I love walking up and down the Strip. Not like I'm in any rush.
