I know, I know...people say that material, artificial things don't bring happiness, there is no such thing as real happiness, etc... But I'm sure that all of us have at least one posession that they treasure.
What is yours?
Mine is my really antique copy of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. It's one of my favorite books, and I really love old, old books that smell like......old books. All of my friends think it's ugly and say I should sell it..maybe I'd get a good price on ebay, blah blah blah, but I think it's so pretty. My mother bought it for me on my 13th birthday. She found it in some obscure little bookshop in France. It was a very random English book in a store of old French books that were published but no one really cares about, I suppose.

Mine is that Barbra Streisand voodoo doll. I can't describe the thrill I get every time I use it!
Yup yup. Whatever does it for ya.
I don't know if this qualifies as 'little', but I own a few paintings by a relatively obscure Russian impressionst. I bought them at auction about ten years ago, and his works go for $5k to $30k in galleries. The value is nice, but I bought the works because I loved them.
Yeah I shouldn't have written "little". Ah well.
That's good for you, madbrian. I know TONS of people who would sell it immediately.

My mom and dad gave me a lot of their old concert tee shirts. I love wearing them. They're fun and unique, and I just feel happy when I have them on.
The half-empty bottle of rum in my fridge, for starters.
My cousin said the same thing.
Well, no.
He said his cabinet of liquor....
He's a doctor..
He works long hours.

My tattered and torn baby blanket.
If there was a fire, this would be one of the first material items that I would take.
Also, very important are my pictures. Specifically the ones of me and my friend who committed suicide.
IMO, the most irreplaceable things are considered "Little things that simply make me happy"

I have a few. I have like an 120 year old book "The History Of Australia" which amuses me since Australia didn't have much of a history back then (but it does include New Zealand and Fiji).
Actually I have quiet a collection of antique books but that has always been my favorite.
My Avenue Q Trekkie puppet that was given to me by someone special.

Actr, that is quite a wonderful furnishing!
Mine are rather simple;
- a few programs (one signed by Sally Struthers, one signed by Jon Peterson, and another signed by Raul Esparza)
- a little lamb my father got while he was in rehab after his surgery (which gave to me as an Easter present)
- a black/white boa that the costume designer from a production of The Music Man (that I was in) let me keep.
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
Since my baby blanket and stuffed lamb are back home in storage, in a fire, I'd probably also have to save my Angela Lansbury signed "Sweeney" poster, my Stephen Sondheim letter, and my copy of "King Lear" personalized to me by Ian McKellen.
- llamas
- the song "You Are My Sunshine"
- the idea of someone walking a cow on a leash
- imagining people bald
- duct tape
- Stephen Baldwin's church of extreme sports
- daisies
- daffodils
- Canada
- Martin Van Buren's hair
ETA: Whoops. I missed the phrase "you own" somehow.
