re: tidbit
head also received credit for the costumes to Sabrina, which were done by the G! and i belieeeeve she won an oscar... byotch...
when i was 13 i rented every- and i mean every- hepburn movie in existance and read most of the books. i highly reccomend sean hepburn ferrer's book about his mother, "an elegant spirit." also "audrey style" is super. funny face was a terrific film, i loved the part when they're in the french club and she breaks out into that crazy dance. you could see her passion for dance and it made me sad her ballet dreams couldn't work out. she couldn't be a prima ballarina apparently because of the malnuritisment she suffered during the war- it made her muscles kind of weak or something. i should have known, addy, you would love the think pink song! that part when they're in the magazine office and kay pulls out all that pink fabric, and then everyone's wearing pink and the whole office is pink... good times. also her running down the stairs in the red dress? "stop! stop!" "i don't want to stop!" simply glooooooorious.

Trivia for Funny Face:
Fred Astaire's character is based on photographer Richard Avedon. In fact, it is Avedon who set up most of the photography for this film, including the famous face portrait of Audrey Hepburn unveiled during the dark room sequence.
Cameo: [Baroness Ella Van Heemstra] Audrey Hepburn's mother as a sidewalk cafe patron.
Audrey Hepburn filmed this back-to-back with Love in the Afternoon (1957).
Much has been written about the crew having to contend with rainy weather in Paris during production. For a comparison of how the film might have looked if the sun hadn't appeared from time to time, compare the Bonjour Paris number from the film - mostly shot in brilliant sunshine - with alternate footage shot on a rainy day that is featured in the trailer.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 9:27amNow I want to read that book "An Elegant Spirit"...the last thing I remember seeing Audrey Hepburn in (and I believe it may have been her final recorded performance) was a movie called "Always",in which she played an angel named Hap who has a lovely scene with Richard Dreyfus. She was truly a wonderful actress and a great spirit.

Redhot - she truly was. And I loved her as an Angel

Posted: 12/7/04 at 9:49amYes - it is. And, I think I need to watch it again, too!

I own that dvd. It has brought ENDLESS pleasure. Even if I don't have time to watch the whole thing, I'll pop it in and watch Audrey's bohemian dance or Kaye Thomspson chewing a bit of the scenery.
FABULOUS film...which (God help me for saying this) would make a wonderful stage show.

PalJoey! Are you home, or still enjoying the Sunshine State?
Isn't that the most wonderful book? I think I may have to wrap up a few copies for some friends...

New Years resolution for Glebb is to buy "Funny Face" and get to know it better. Love it but have only seen it once.
Still toting "You Were Never Lovelier" around with hopes of showing friends on tour.
Must get to know Addy better through "Funny Face".
PS: There is a beautiful Ballerina in our troop that loves "Funny Face", so it's win-win situation.
